Keep it all free market & mix-up the media presentation a bit... Where's Al Gore when you need him?!?!?
A flashy bit of free-market propoganda. Not very accurate at all. For example, "If I wanted America to fail, I'd convince Americans that Europe has it right, and America has it wrong". Far from it, Americans generally despise Europe believing that they (Americans) have it right and that the supposed socialist welfare nations of Europe have it wrong. I've not heard anywhere in the US, any significant voice or media outlet trumpeting that Europe has it right and America has it wrong. If anything, the US media over the past 5 years has been blaming the GFC on Europes nations supposedly living beyond their means (eg Greece, Spain, Iceland etc) and in no way acknowledges fault in a global system based on the US$ with the USA having a debt so large it will never be able to pay off. On that point alone, this flashy message loses credibility.
As I bat & balled with The Hon Mr Thatguy the other day... the fuse is as long as they tell you or want you to believe it is...
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
I'm feeling that I'd be perfectly safe offering a $1000 wager that the current system won't fail (at least based on debt or the notion of it & effects) in our lifetimes. Why? Because we'll hear the size 10's kicking in our doors & Sturmabteilung dragging us out of our beds, possibly to an undisclosed forest location well before we even got the chance to question things by democratic means or via justifiable armed struggle... And Portugal, Spain, Greece... Who the hell cares! (Italy & Ireland mind-you... I care about those 2 particularly for various reasons...) I feel fortunate having been born when I was, to witness the 20thC's greatest achievements & the 21st's dilemmas, but again the World keeps turning, and China will dominate... whilst the West declines in just about every way. Capitalism is based on boom & bust - so deal with it. The West is now half-way down the bust slope after having it so cushy for the last century... Whatever happens it'll be an interesting next 50 years - Being in Australia means we're in a position of relative economic & geographic protection. As far as Europe's fate... let 'em slug it out. They all deserve eachother - and moreover the people deserve the leaders they've let into power - and the social conditions they've sleepwalked into... Call me a bit of a dinosaur... x
The elite will remain in place. The plebs (us) will remain as consumers/labour. The monetary system may change. And a lot of assets may change hands. But social heirarchy will remain in place. We'll just use buttons instead of metal "money" perhaps? Or maybe that chip they plant into the back of each of our heads, will have a USB interface to aid each of us in our purchases (and incidentally allow big brother to monitor our spending habits).
