Can anybody tell me about this? I know it's hard just judging by a picture, just looks like a mass produced item so I'm hoping there is a standard value or gold content etc.

Does anybody know what it's worth, or how much gold there would be in it?

Weighs about 7grams, came from Thailand

These Buddha pendants are hard to check its gold contents... I hv seen alot and almost all plated.. and because you can't get this open for xrf, you basically gamble on its true golf contents...
By its weight of 7g, pretty sure it's plated, but which ct? 18ct I'm assuming

    About

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_Buddha_amulet

    Amulet taboos
    1. Do not wear Buddhist amulets under the waist. For most amulets, wear it on the neck or above the waist. This tradition is to show respect to the Buddha. Takruts, another type of amulet made in Thailand but without a monk or Buddhist image, can be put inside pants pockets.
    2. Do not put a Buddhist amulet in a bedroom if you expect to engage in sex there.
    3. Pray before and after wearing an amulets.
    4. Remove amulets when bathing.
    5. It is not necessary to wear an odd number (1,3,5) of amulets around the neck for balance and symmetry.

The Amulet are normally blessed by the monks.
Probably , when you are in Thailand can get them free.
People normally donate some $$$ for the blessing so The monks can continuing theirs works.

You probably can get one within The Thai community in Australia.
I do have many friends with the Thai people.
    They are down to earth.

My wife is Thai and she tells me that one is a fake. Normally the buddah inside is gold plated unless one tells the gold dealer to put a solid gold figure inside with a solid gold @22k outside. Fake look alike gold buddahs can be bought at temples and the like. Gold plated outsides can also be purchased from many gold dealers on the streets. I have also been given a few of these at funerals I have attended in Thailand. All being look alike gold.
