Hullcoin: The World's First Local Government Cryptocurrency? - Kingston Upon Hull, England. The article describes the wish to fight poverty using a local currency (see link below). Whether Hullcoin is able to make improvements is yet to be seen. Source: http://www.coindesk.com/hullcoin-worlds-first-local-government-cryptocurrency/ Disclaimer: I don't own any Hullcoins
Mazacoin was technically the first crypto for a sovereign nation. Don't expect much from these alts unless you want to lose your money.
Checked out a few web pages on Hull. Looks like a beautiful port town adjacent Europe & has a lot going for it... which makes me wonder why they might have a "poverty" problem to combat. Not that making more 'currency' has ever made 'the poor' rich. Seems its biggest problem is its poor educational levels. That may well effect its population's productivity... and therefore their income. Wealth is all about producing valuable goods and services... creating currency whether paper, digital or crypto will not improve the situation. Q.E.D. This Hullcoin idea is folly.
Why don't they mine Bitcoins if they want to make money? I am all for local currencies but most have enough problems getting acceptance, add in the problems crypto currencies have and the number of people interested in using them shrinks to next to nothing.
Looks like being the appropriate word buddy. Its a s--t hole even people who live in Hull will say that, very high unemployment poor transport connections to the rest of the country. Hullcoin what a joke, next they'll have that half wit John Prescott promoting it and that will be the kiss of death.
The more coins they make, the more confusing the entire "game" becomes and the cheaper most coins become. Eventually - someone could come up with a "cryptocoin 2.0" model that will surpass even the Bitcoin model and will become the most-traded cryptocoin. For that, I think a different crypto model is required (by eliminating the current weak points of cryptocoins).
