    Hi All,
Can you please provide some advice regarding transporting PM's domestically? It seems that regular couriers don't transport PM's which makes moving house quite difficult. I was thinking of spreading everything between 4x carry ons.

    Regards J

Depends on how much you have but carry one would be the cheapest and easiest. I've used Brinks for interstate and that was a bit costly but for peace of mind it was worth it.

Travelling by road is an option but I personally wouldn't risk it.

You might be surprised at how much insurance some movers carry against damage and theft. You don't have to tell the movers there's bullion in your cupboard out whatever you put it but ring around and ask how they insure and get specific details (maybe call the insurer and make sure you check they don't have any exclusions for things like bullion/cash).

They'll likely just think your being pedantic but there are worse things in life than that. Then it's just a matter of documenting your stack and securing it somewhere safe inside something your moving.

If you can do the trip in one day or in a single drive though the car probably isn't that bad. I wouldn't want to have it parked outside a motel in the middle of nowhere overnight though.

Hire a car, do the drive, after you pay for plane ticket, ect. Works out about the same, we've driven to perth from melbourne afew times, you can do iron a couple days with two drivers easily

Personally - load up the car and drive it. But I wouldn't do it alone so that someone was always with the vehicle.

Thanks for the advice guys, but I already have plane tickets booked for the family and cars are shipped.
I've decided to sell of part of the stack, and spread the load between four of us on the plane as carry on.

    Interesting topic, really.

My curiosity: suppose you move to a foreign country. How do you transport it?

I suppose you have to declare it.

What if you're a really rich guy and have kg's of gold and silver. Are you acutally allowed to take that with you on an international flight?

What do you do when you arrive at your (foreign) destination... call if France, Japan, UK, Greece, whatever... Will you have to pay customs on it?

I am asking this, because I heard of some who travel internationally. Can't imagine how they're carrying the whole thing.

Convert to gold, platinum, jewellery or what ever you can carry. Otherwise, pay for storage in your original location - though this isn't always desirable.

If you're buying KG's of gold, you could probably afford to rent a private jet and pay a few people off. Use the JetSmarter app to order one ;)

You've flown with 15 kg in your luggage? How did that go? Declared it, I suppose...

Put 15-22kg in your carry on and go through security check point, then go to the bathroom and transfer all but 7-8kg into your pockets (you don't want them in your pockets when you go through security checkpoint, oh wear baggy pants and a jacket with pockets btw) then go through the airline boarding section (even if they weigh your bag at that point it's fine) then as soon as you get to your seat on the plane transfer them back to your bag and make sure you put your own bag up and put it up against a side wall (airline staff don't tent to touch the ones against the edge if they need to shuffle to make room they push the middle ones to the side)

Other option is to drive, check for free interstate car hire, there's quite a lot of options if you don't care what you drive or when you drive it, lots of vehicles need to be transported interstate so you can get free car hire from sites like this https://www.transfercar.com.au/
