A belief can be true or false (eg. religious) whereas the truth and facts are just that.

Logical thinking leads to finding/seeing the truth. Some thought-processes are logical and some thought-processes are illogical. Filtering out and cleaning up these illogical thought-processes is only possible when the person is attentive and objective, and does not have any mental barrier or preconception that hinders the neutralization of illogical thought-processes.

Regardless what part of a persons thought process is illogical, it will sooner of later reveal its true illogical nature. With this a person may see that every part of their thinking, every single process, and the whole collective of thought-processes require objective observations, attention, and above all TIME.

A person will never be able to have perfect logical thoughts because their material consciousness is the limiting factor in this.
Making mistakes, e.g. making illogical thoughts are a part of Nature and evolution, and as long as mistakes are made from true ignorance and not out of acting against better knowledge, then they will always be without fault in this.

I like to think to myself that I know nothing so that I am always trying to learn and find new truths that I previously didn't know. I think one must be always open minded throughout life and not closed minded. Many old people (like my mother) are closed minded and are not able to find new truths mainly because they think they already learned/know everything.

" I respect & listen to other peoples opinions

But i have faith in my own beliefs

& make up my own mind "

I had a small card that said ^^^ on the wall of my bar

I think it all depends on if you are a leader or follower .

Faith is worse then beliefs because having faith in something means nothing because it is based on nothing. Eg 1, I have faith this answer is right vs I believe this answer is right. At least the belief is based on something. Eg 2, I make my investments based on belief I gathered from my research over faith.

But there is something better then beliefs. It is knowledge, truths and facts.

eg, if you get on an areoplane and you are going to fly somewhere do you want to know that the pilot believes he can fly the plane or that he knows how to fly it?

I absolutely respect others' right to have whatever opinion or belief they want, but I don't necessarily respect the opinion or belief itself.

That, and the scientific method which seeks to let reality speak for itself.

It is also the reason why science, scientists. and the scientific method are so loathed and consistently attacked by new age woo woo fantasists, right wing extremists, politicians, fundamentalist religious followers, and basically anyone with an agenda that is based on a fiction that is threatened by the reality of the natural world.

    From the article:
I can't disagree with that. There's just too many people who seem to have an enormous pickle in their arse and who would do well to expand their minds beyond what they are told by the media and politicians.

I'm not sure if i follow you correctly? If I got you wrong just let me know.

I'm not a "new age" wacko. Show me one "new age" wacko group that pushes/promotes "logical thinking" and link what I said to any of them wackos??

I'm not religious or any of those other things you mentioned.

I follow science because only science leads to scientific facts.

I also follow psychology - "thinking".
