This disease seems to be taking aim at drinkers.
While us stoners could easily have a smoke and lax out in front of a computer or building something, poor old drinkers tend to get more social.
From memory drinking alone would not have been something id have considered , but drinking with a group of mates or even strangers was a starter every time.

The COVID-19 death toll in Italy is includes those who die WITH the virus, as opposed to those dying FROM the virus. Only 12% of Italian virus deaths show direct causality. So using J09-J18 is probably a very fair comparison.

In other countries (i.e. Australia) they're including very elderly people 95, 91 ... in the death toll. Is it possible they died from pneumonia due to other viruses/bacteria/fungal/non-infective causes? I guess we'll never know?

So now you want to compare total number of deaths from influenza and pneumonia regardless of whether the influenza virus was identified, to the number of deaths where the coronavirus was present in all patients?

And you do know that influenza deaths affects the same demographics as this coronavirus right? So if you would like to continue to think that these patients died with the virus, the same can be said of deaths attributed to influenza.

Influenza and pneumonia are closely related. That's why the CDC has them on the same line item in their stats.

"But the new coronavirus, called SARS-CoV-2, mostly infects the lungs, causing pneumonia in severe cases." - Link

Yes virtually the same demographics. The stats overwhelmingly show it's the elderly. Do you have evidence otherwise? Or do you just like to argue for the fun?

Hence why we have Northern and Southern flu seasons.
As the sun angle drops, so does the exposure to UVB and the bodies ability to make vitamin D.
Perhaps keep your Liver in tip top condition by................................you know. ;)

For those folk who are interested, (In Australia) you can check UVB levels for your city via the Bureau of Meteorology or other sources.
    http://www.bom.gov.au/uv/about_uv_index.shtml

    For the interested stackers:

How your body makes vitamin D.
The sun's energy turns a chemical in your skin into vitamin D3, which is carried to your liver and then your kidneys to transform it to active vitamin D.

And the hidden essential benefit of sunshine on skin that is not widely known is that the skin also produces nitrous oxide when exposed to the sun and is beneficial to health!

Thanks! I just ordered 10,000 IU vitamin D capsules off Ebay. They were the highest potency I could find.

First case for us close to home.
The wife's girlfriend has a brother that just tested positive down in Invercargill.
I wonder where the next one will be.

EDIT: just to add NZ cases today will be between 65-85 because they do so little testing and this appears to be the range they like the numbers to stay at.
I personally know 5 different doctors that have had dozens of COVID tests thrown in the bin and not tested at labs because they have not MET CRITERIA.
Yet i am told they only tested them because they had clear symptoms , but they lacked a confirmed contact so tests got binned.

It seems governments are always trying to manage the information flow to control the public’s response. Sadly it just turns out to be another form of propaganda. The assumption being that those in power are smarter than the general public. Personally just don’t see those in power as any smarter. Often quite the reverse.

Oh for the day when we have true disclosure of the facts.

Go easy on that stuff, do your homework.
Often, a little bit of knowledge can be harmful down the track as to speak.

*During summer time, there's no point taking vitamin D3 capsules because you'll get plenty if you spend a bit of time in the sun.
*High doses of vitamin D combined with calcium supplements can increase your risk of calcification of the arteries (heart) and also add to problems like more calcium stored in the soft tissue.
*Before taking any supplement I'd highly recommend that you are fully aware of your Liver Function, current Vitamin D levels and get your "Bloods" checked by your Doctor.

Don't take supplements unless you have studied the subject and know what you are doing.
If you are unsure or worried, try this.
During winter, get sunshine everyday at the recommended level.
Eat foods that contain Vitamin D, eat foods that contain Vitamin C, get your liver in good shape, by avoiding booze and sugar.
Your body is designed to fix itself, all you have to do is give it the food, liquid, sunshine and exercise. Your body will do the rest.

So, Skyrocket, don't go filling up on those pills mate, get your shit together first. :D

what's the logical reason for 'banning' non-essential travel over easter? if you are not in contact with anyone what does it matter?

went for a hunt away from home yesterday afternoon and had contact with no one. same as sitting at home really! not allowed to go somewhere, not have contact with anyone to hunt or fish for food but it's acceptable to go to woolies and buy food and have contact with people?

never let logic and reason get in the way of political decision making.
