I'd love to see "angry old white guys" attempt armed insurrection.

If you think you can count on backup from the National Guard, Army and/or the Marine Corp...here's something for you to chew on.

    - Troops surveyed continue to give high marks to the president for his handling of military issues specifically. More than 60 percent said they believe the military is in better shape now than it was under President Barack Obama, and nearly the same number have a favorable view of his handling of the military.

Last month, Congress finalized a $674 billion defense appropriations measure for fiscal 2019 which included another end strength boost, a host of new equipment purchases and the largest military pay raise in a decade.

“Trump has done some things to win the hearts of the military, whether it has been the budget or just avoiding a foreign policy catastrophe,” Feaver said. “And he has talked about the importance of the military, making it a focus of his campaign and presidency."

    - Only 13 percent believe that Obama’s military was in better shape than Trump’s, according to the poll.
    ---
Marine Corps are overwhelmingly supportive of Trump in this poll. It seems to be the Air Force and Women who are most dissatisfied. Interesting data nevertheless.

Comparing Trump with Obama is a little way off. Obama is the worst US president that I know about.

I find quite fascinating that we give "best" descriptors to politicians elected by popularity contest.

What makes them "best" or "worst"?

I know otherwise intelligent people who get quite passionate about their hero Obama, and similarly intelligent people who (quietly lol) champion Trump. Ditto discussions about Oz PMs. In a way it's like giving awards for public relations expertise.

I think Trump is inept, and surrounded by some of the most grotesquely evil people on the planet - Bolton for example - but he has all the 'markers' for a "great presidency", such as economy and avoiding or ending wars. (If of course you can see through the furious storm of anti-Trump propaganda reporting on his track record.

So, back to the original inspiration for this ramble:

What makes Obama and/or Trump best or worst?

Here is Pelosi explaining the modus operandi of the Democrats regarding opponents.

BTW. I doubt it is exclusive to the Democrats!! Still given the Wikileaks DNC releases on Podesta and the dirty tricks played on Sanders the Democrats probably have it honed to a fine art. (when they're not just executing inconveniences like Seth Rich that is)

P.S. Pelosi is 78 years old. She doesn't look like any 78 year old I know. Maybe they really do make deals with the devil and eat babies for eternal youth!

I sincerely hope it will not have to come to this. I am not a paramilitary zealot, itching for a fight. I will turn 60 in a few weeks, but still in good shape, (better than a lot of kids half my age) and can put a round in a running white tail from 100 yards or better.
I would much rather raise my crops and animals in peace, and provide for my family's needs without having to support a wasteful government and assorted parasites.
But..... I am fully prepared and willing to defend my principles with my life if need be. There are many good people around me that hold the same beliefs.
Not keyboard warriors, but actual people like me who quietly go about their normal existence, but know full well what may be required of them if things really go "hot." None of us look forward to armed confrontations, but never underestimate the resolve of a group of pissed off country folk with families to protect, and nothing left to loose.
There are more of us waking up to the reality of this every day.
I think Trump, for all his flaws and privileged upbringing, may be the first POTUS to actually sense the mood of the productive people, and is trying to do something good.

Whether you like Trump or not depends on your own self-interest. If you're working in a multinational corporation that does business globally, you will probably hate Trump because he is doing all he can to disrupt your rice bowl/profits. The job of America is to print money, over borrow, over consume goods that multinationals manufacture cheaply in places like China and selling at many times the cost to Americans. The job of the American president is not to mess with this supply chain, but to engage in overseas expeditions to entertain the American public just like gladiators fighting in a colosseum, sometime which Obama is best at. A pro-America US president is bad for profits.
