Lastnight the Parliament was broken into by hundreds of young Chinese using any and everything that they could get their hands on.

When they got inside they sprayed messages on the walls, smashed the place up and even rehung the Union Jack flag, this was just after the 22nd anniversary of the handing back over to China of Hong Kong after the 100 year lease had expired.

The riot police watched on until about midnight then used baton to force then out onto the street were tear gas was used dispersing the protesters further.

These young people are fighting for their future and even their very lives as they know it,if nothing else they are very very brave,my hat goes off to them :)

The catalyst for this huge uprising as many of you would know with millions on the streets in the past month is the new extradition policy that will see all dissenters being dragged off to China for trial never no doubt to be seen again.

My worry is now that this is playing right into the hands of XI Jinping

My heart is with the good people of Hong Kong, long may you reign :D

No need to be so harsh, just send them for free boarding school in Xinjiang state to cure their minds of bad foreign influences.

Was watching some of this on the telly. Such use of force hasn't been their MO to date. Generally peaceful.

Makes me think, did Beijing send some operatives over the border to act up in the demo's to make the HK democracy protests turn ugly??

the actors being paid USD 500 each day to be there, source of funds is well known by the Chinese authorities

from the actors faces, we can tell they are real people in HK, not a bit look similar from the mainland, they were arguing in local tongue
the videos captured on the ground seems legit

Just wait for China to do facial recognitions on those responsible.... they'll 'somehow' disappear into thin air...

When this happens in Hong Kong against the Legislative Council it’s called “fight for democracy”.

If that happened in Paris via the Gilets Jaunes/Yellow Vests against Macron’s policies, it would be called “terrorism”.

The thugs should be sent to re-education centres until they can’t recall their names.

Apparently the Hong Kong government today "canned" the extradition of law breakers back to the mainland,I don't believe it,China as we know plays the long game.

Maybe when the rest of the world is distracted say in the Middle East they will take back Hong Kong and Taiwan at the same time, who other than the US could stop them.

see what happens when you stand together and riot and revolt you get what you want from the government. meanwhile here in multicultural australia where everyone is different and has different ideologies we get bent over a barrel and cop whatever they want to put over us.

How much longer can the Chinese government hold off being more overt in the take back of Hong Kong while threatening openly about happily going to war over Taiwan

But saying that the next war will be in the middle east as Israel defends itself against Iran and it's proxies o_O

For get the price of petrol, keep your car petrol tank full to avoid the long queues and even consider keeping some in 20 litre approved containers at home somewhere safe :D

IT strikes me a strange that the protests which kicked off again recently due to the proposed "extradition law" were whilst large, reasonably well behaved / peaceful in the main....geez they even cleaned the streets up after thee protests. We are now seeing protests erupt into violence ie damage to building and pro PRC gangs beating up pro-democracy supporters at train stations...that suspicious part of my brain tells me that the PRC have sent into HK to their own cadres to disrupt and cause havoc to create the image of a lawless HK that the local government and police can't manage, thus given Beijing the premise to crack down.

As noted by sgbuyer re HK property prices...alot of PRC money in HK property. If that bubble bursts, then alot pain for the PRC elite.
