lol I live about 250 miles from them and it took 17 days before they even shipped it, then another week. maybe they should try charging $250 for the dragon then hire some help hahaha i hope i didnt just pm someone with the 'kenny' button heh
Got my HR dragon today. Here is what it looks like compared to a 1oz Silver Bullion Dragon. Yeah it would look nice in a bigger coin.. eg. 2oz or 5oz or 1kg.
must be tradition of taking the metal out and sell the GOP (Government Original PacK) and pay the service fee and getting a grade. back to schools again
Why is your picture of the Dragon better than the Perth Mint's Marketing Department?? It looks way better than their pictures do it justice, glad I bought one sight unseen now. Bigger is better! Not sure why they all have to be legal tender though, if you made these Uniface and ditched the legal tender status you could make a nice round and have it a little wider and still keep it at 1oz. who is going to look at the back or spend it anyway? I am pretty sure if it wasn't legal tender they could make any size they wanted without the need to get Gov permission. Knowing my luck they will bring out a type set of High Relief in time for the Snake.
So why is this called high relief instead of the old and widely used term Piedfort? Isn't it really the same thing and thus a marketing gimmick?
I knew the Piedfort was thicker but I haven't seen one, they don't look to be particularly High Relief but then the photos never do them justice anyway. Piedfort sounds a bit french and doesn't tell you anything about the coin. High Relief gives you a clue, and sounds more Australian.
the old Piedfort is no relief. HR, the dragon actually have the fell, oh no ... did I said touch the coin
Not quite. HR is more than twice as thick, and smaller diameter. 1/2 Dragon Maximum Diameter (mm) 36.6 Maximum Thickness (mm) 2.3 1oz High Relief Dragon Maximum Diameter (mm) 32.6 Maximum Thickness (mm) 6.0
Got the High Relief in the post today, it does look a bit small, but it also looks pretty nice too. would be much better much bigger!
They should be called "Ultra High Relief Piedfort 1oz Dragon". High Relief - means hand-polished and quadruple struck. Piedfort - means that coin thicker than usual. Twice the thickness of standard coins, not the weight. So basically this coin has high relief & Piedfort as well.
High Relief Dragon Lunar II with Milk spots http://forums.silverstackers.com/to...agon-lunar-ii-with-milk-spots-in-germany.html
Didn't think it was possible but the PM is making Elizabeth uglier each year. I am all for being honest but that's perhaps too much detail on the wrinkles, especially those neck gills. My coins just got posted today, shouldn't be too long a wait for me now
