Back in the olden days (late 70s) I bought my wife a pair of 9ct tokens, one a half sovereign size, the other sovereign size. They depict Auguste Rodin's 'The Kiss' with a floral design on the reverse. Mintage was 5000 of each.

Being pretty skint at the time, we thought they were special, even though they're only 9ct gold. Since then, they have rarely seen the light of day.

I can't find any info online about them, or such tokens in general. Can anybody on here help? Do they have any value?

    Good luck with your hunt.
Tokens like these are notoriously difficult to find information on.
They are pretty racy for the time period i would have thought.
Do you have the weights for them and a general idea of what you paid for them?
Pobjoy put out copious amounts of coins and tokens but are very well regarded with a interesting company history.

Thanks for the replies, folks. I am also trying to find some info about the jeweller who sold the tokens: Gregory & Co of London. The company doesn't seem to exist any more, but I found a Victorian pamphlet about London and Gregory & Co of Regent Street, described as "a firm of the first rank".

    :)
