A friend brought this broach round and wants to sell it. It is a very nice piece and definitely 50 plus years. Has a mark on the back of 760
    S
As I have no idea what this S is maybe somebody could help. It is in great condition weighs about 13.5 grms with stones. Has two opaque leaf design stones opal looking but not I think. and 3 other small stones.
Could the broach be .760 au or Ag plated with 760 gold. It feels good to hold and is excellent quality. Any help would be appreciated. vangbac.

Stones and leaves look like amethyst to me.

I would also say that the 760 is most brobably 750 - 18k - its just stambed on an angle and looks a bit like a 6 and the S may be a date mark. This biece may be of interest to antique collectors. take it to a dealer and get them to give you some info on it. Its a lovely brooch.

To me it is moonstone (the leaves) and purple sapphire, or Iolite.

    I like it!

    I'll secondthe moonstone motion.

    Bloody beautifully cut too.

If your thinking of getting it checked to see if its gold, find a goldbuyer/pawnbroker and ask them how much they'll offer.

Most legit places will have a tester there, swhether handheld or bench mounted.

I get most of my jewellery tested in this way in Brisbane. Its free, but kinda on the basis that I let them buy a piece under spot every now and then.

Its a pretty good arrangment... See what you can turn up where you live...
