Good morning, last night at the coin club meeting a member brought in some silver coloured bars. The only marking on them is a purity of '999.8' and the weight '1 OUNCE'

On my kitchen scales they weigh anywhere between 30g and 32g so I am fairly happy with that.

I haven't done any testing on them to confirm they are silver.

I did a quick Google Images search to see if I could find anything similar but didn't get lucky.

There are round cornered square indentations in the backs of the bars as can be seen in the bottom right bar. No idea what would cause that but I assume it is part of the manufacturing process. The sides are very similar to the XAG bar (pictured top left for size comparison). The XAG is thicker. Both types have the extrusion marks along the edges.

I will polish one up with Cloudy Ammonia and Bi-carb when I get a bit of time.

Any idea of the maker? I am hoping it is a local and not an import.

    Cheers

I think Harrington may have used a similar irregular octagon shape on some bars.

Cheers, I will look those companies up and see if I can find any matches.

It would be great if they were "super rare" but at this stage I would settle for 'genuine".
