Hello all, I thought I would say hello to everyone in the formal way of doing so. I am from Brisbane, however haven't actually started stacking any silver yet, still going with my own research into PMs. Learn't a lot from this website though, so already many thanks to those involved! Heading over to Perth next week, so will check out the mint whilst I am there. Won't be buying much (if any) though - don't like the idea of my I.D being on record, anonymity seems to be very scarse these days. Looking forward to chatting with you all. Jago
Hi Jago, First of all welcome. If you purchase below 5k at the PM, you needn't provide anything at all except cash. I think 5k is the limit at least, but I welcome any corrections.
Better to have silver and have ur ID recorded than no silver and fully anonymous and Welcome to the Forum.
Walked into mint on the 24/3 & bought 20oz bar, payed by card ($764.80) & had to show drivers licence.. I must look suspect? Gaz
Hmm, could be a small world...I vaguely remember a retardedmonkey on IRC too, on a now defunct QLD PIPE tracker/channel ~5+ yrs ago Welcome aboard.
A small world indeed. We're still around, just as a different name and more of a (gaming) community than tracker now!
Weird, I've never had to show ID. I almost always pay cash and never buy for over 2k at once, so I don't know about those limits. Maybe you used a credit card?
Welcome in Jago! Fellow Brissy stacker here, there's a meet happening this sunday am at Mt Gravatt showgrounds if you've the time, I'll be going along and meeting some of the fellow brissy lot. Hurry up and get started mate, there's plenty to be had!
I went to the Perth Mint once, very dissapointed, not sure what I expected. They have a ton of metal on site, a shop on site so no delivery or distribution costs, they make their own product so they don't have to resell it at a mark up or pay off a middleman to make money, and they were still very expensive above spot. I thought there would be bargains to be had. I didn't buy anything except the mint your own medallion they had there, everything else was a bit...meh. Still, the gold pour was nice and the exhibit of gold bars from around the world was nice to look at, plus you get to hold a full size gold bar, very heavy, man.
