    Carefull on that one billy. Some people change just one link (usually a stamped one) with a "real" 18ct chain then will only let you test that link, as they do not want to damage the item. Best bet is to meet them at a friendly dealer with an XRF if at all possible.

    This raises a question which has interested me.
    Surely a coin like say the panda which would have original been in a capsule and lets say never handled would automatically be considered an MS69 or 70 grading depending if the grader got a leg over the night before.....so why pay for a grading? sounds like a scam to me for new issue coins.
    I can understand the value of it for numismatics but a coins less than a year old?

    Particularly with bullion coins some might be 60 seconds old off the press and not pass as an ms70. I also think buying graded bullion coins is silly but I could see someone trying to get a gem ms70 set of yearly things. Anything new in an MS69 or ms68 is just silly though, that could be anything straight out of the roll.

    The price of grading from pcgs and ngc is crazy here though (mostly because of shipping). I shopped around and the best price I could find was $60 for sovereigns (pcgs). I now sliver coins are a little cheaper but still.
