To be clear, public education is funded by the government. They dictate to the educational regulatory standards, what is taught. It would be...counter productive for them to teach about how bad government is. And as someone who works in secondary education, students have more narrow concerns than money and taxation. If adults are 'can't be bothered' what makes you think students will be any better?
That's not very high on my list, no. We were discussing whether the system is operated in secrecy. If the general population aren't aware of how the system is structured, then something is amiss. My point is that the education system is used as a tool of control and it's no surprise that we're not taught about where money comes from, how our financial system works and the true purpose and function of taxes in our schools. IMO this falls under the umbrella of Secretive and Deceptive.
And the reasons they don't know? Because they haven't been informed. I mean, come on. We're reminded of our obligations to pay tax. We're reminded of the consequences if we don't. Yet the truth about how our system is structured has been lost for generations and it's solely down to people's ignorance? Nothing sinister, secretive or deceptive about it, just ignorance? I don't think so. I think human beings are easy to control in a herd when you're able to dictate the narrative and manipulate public opinion. It becomes a self-governing system once social norms are developed and a general consensus is achieved. The rest is just maintenance through repetition. I think it's less about people being ignorant and more about people's ignorance being manipulated.
We go back to the values bit I mentioned earlier. Those writing the curriculum are only interested in enhancing the values they deem important. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s just the way the curriculum is designed. There’s a reason parents shouldn’t rely solely on the schooling system for educating their child.
I would image it's more likely that ignorant people get chosen to be the ones writing the curriculum. It's easier to get promotions if you don't question the system, so over time there is a sifting process where the system weeds out a certain type of person. So i would say there is a mix of both secretive/deceptive & ignorance. Secretive/deceptive picks/incentivise the ignorant, then the ignorant reinforce the secretive/deceptive without them knowing of the secretive/deceptive aspect.
In the public education system promotions are based upon how effective you are at promoting the values of the education system. Mostly the people that get promoted are the type that get a rush out of meeting performance indicators that to the stable and well-grounded are considered tedious and bureaucratic. So you get individuals who clearly exhibit behaviours that are indicative of someone operating towards either extreme on the spectrum designing, implementing and promoting values that align with their belief system. And genuinely believe they are doing good. This happens at every level, from the Minister, down through the ADGs, Principals and many teachers and support staff. There is no system more value driven than the schooling system.
Id I would object to those on the bottom buying into the values like teachers. For the most part, they don't. They work with kids and don't have time or energy to do otherwise. On the otherhand, as you go higher up, I agree with you completely. You have to espouse the values that the current regulatory body and education department are pushing or you have no hope
seeing socialism has taken over uni's it does not surprise me that they now teach magicpudidng economics. Years past you needed An OP in the single digits to even qualify to take an economics course. Then along comes the so called education revolution and the whole Mantry of University for everyone . You now have kids with C high school results and an OP of a retard filling the classes in universities. So its much easier for lecturers to fill kids heads with nonsense like debt doesnt matter and magic pudding economics. with the lowering of standards of those entering Uni's they curriculum is dumbed-down, and not only that lecturers are selected on their political positions, so combining the two you end up with the problems with have now, which is C grade highschool students becoming teachers filling kids heads with rubbish.
You obviously haven't been paying attention. There nothing socialist nor magic pudding about MMT. It's just the way our monetary system is structured. And has been for about 50 years. That's just another thing people are either ignorant about or just don't want to know about.
I guess you havent been paying attention to the Greens who push this shit lol, but bury your head in the sand and pretend you know what your talking about lol
MMT is politically agnostic lol. You obviously haven't been paying attention to the discussion on values lol.
Im talking about the shit you push as far as debt, deficit and taxes. What you push is socialist magic pudding economics, and your too stupid to realize it. Your thinking is completely aligned with the greens. this socialist thinking that debt doesnt matter is taking over Uni's
Can you agree there is a difference between someone saying the sky is blue and someone that likes the sky being blue? Likewise there is a difference between someone saying how the monetary system is being run and someone liking how the monetary system is being run.
sure edit @leo25 If its a question of if I like how the system is being run right now and am I happy with the levels of debt currently? then no. Its running so far off the orthodox. This whole debt doesnt matter thinking is insanity, and the whole reason we are putting our selves in this level of debt is even worse. we are transitioning into something not so good
I'm not happy with all the reckless money printing either and nether is Shiney. MMT just describes how the system is really being run atm and that governments don't really have any debt (as we view it) and taxation is not needed for government spending (they can always just issue more, as they do). Don't confuse "green" people like Cortez with MMT. MMT is just a play book for how the system was setup to operate for the past 100 years. I highly recommend you watch some of the Warren Mosler videos in the MMT thread.
So is the mmt mob distancing them selves from the likes of Stephanie Kelton now? A major mmt pusher and socialist who uses MMT with her mate bernie sanders to promote a fix for their stupid socialist agender, some one asks how your going to pay for all this green energy stuff and all this huge spening . Oh heres my special MMT economist Stephanie Kelton who will explain to you her magic pudding ecconomics. MMT is choice system for old socialists and marxists these days. What is going on now is more inline with MMt than otheodox ecconomics, and its a shit show. There is no doubt that modern day socialism and MMT goes hand and hand. Its the perfect example of money printing, MMt is their new answer to everything. Ive listned to endless debates of hard core lefties argue the premis of MMT as a way to pay for their bullshit. Print money, dont worry about debt, increase government spending, Just like socialism, it all sounds nice, warm and fuzzy but would fail with out a doubt And just like our current system could asily be missmanged, so even if it could work it would suffer the same problems as any financial system. It easily Can become avictim of missmanagement. So it doesnt fix anything really Edit on ipad so please excuse the spelling and gramma
Nothing magic about it. It's how governments have been paying for things for the past 100 years, through inflation. One of the main mandates the FED had when it was established in 1913 was to "fund" government spending through shell games (or simply money printing). Governments don't want the people knowing there is one rule for them and another for the general population, so they lied and pretended they had debts and budgets. MMT just shows that's all BS. If governments/CBs can create money for wars and wall street, then they can also create money for needed infrastructure projects.
