:/ 100,000kg of gold alone is $4.74B AUD - or $5.95B NZD - that's higher than the stated build cost. Guess the actual build cost in terms of other material and labour is probably only in the tens of millions though, so noise really compared to the intrinsic value. Malaysia huh? Wonder how long before he's relieved of it at sea.
....actually this reminds me of a situation in South Africa prior to the change in management. A law against sending large money amounts out of the country was circumvented by farmers etc selling the farm and buying a BIG yacht. Sailed teh yacht oveseas and sold it. OC
Whoever commissioned it should to buy and operate his own operational FFG (Guided Missile Frigate) to protect his trophy. Ballpark estimate: US$250M capital up-front, plus $15M operational costs per year. Loose change for him. Beats any insurance policy.
Dunno about you.. but my spidey senses are tingling with the stench of BS in that story. 100 tonnes in a yatch 100ft? I'll be surprise it can even move. 100ft is only 30ish metres which is tiny for a "super yatch" And a "malaysian buisnessman"? The richest malaysian has only ~$10 billion, don't think anyone would want to spend half their wealth on a tiny yatch.
Robert Kuok is 87, He hasn't got much time left to spend his money http://www.businessinsider.com/robe...tm_campaign=Feed:+clusterstock+(ClusterStock)
perhaps the owner should read this book - link below , at least he would be able to afford it - http://www.amazon.com/Avoid-Huge-Sh...=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311423550&sr=1-3 read some of the reviews for a good laugh, some are quite witty
He doesn't need to think about smuggling. Individuals with that kind of chips on the table play by a different set of rules from us mere mortals.
lol I know I shouldn't be judgin this since I would buy a few supercars (which I would use regularly) if I had that kind of money but I mean this is such a colossal waste of money lol. I would at least try to cure AIDS or something.
