A friend of mine has hired a WA 500 loader and has been Nth of Menzies for the last week and a bit. On ground that he's detected before with luck and has now dryer out he's bought in the loader and taken layer by layer off and used his mine lab 5000 and bought home 15oz of gold. One man one machine. Mind you he's going back in two weeks.
Good on him for having a fair dinkum crack. Wouldnt have been cheap to get set up Im guessing. Any idea what his lease cost him? No idea about prospecting/detecting rules and regs in WA.
One day EM, one day. You me, SX, reno and dandee, off to the WA goldfields. Yippe can come to, after all, we need some old woman to warn us of any impending doom if we are going to do anything stupid. Oh, and ladybitch if she's in town (reminder to self: Pack earplugs).
I'll bring the grog and music . Heading west mid next year but too far north for a really good gold hunt.
Can I join? Saw Dandee's thread about prospecting and got me interested in this. I can be the Water Boy (hopefully with an E-Trac!)
Hey Dusty Mate and me are heading off in a few weeks for a couple of days again. This being our second trip. No luck on the first one but the bug was there regardless. Your mate has done well. He obviously knows what he is looking for, because you can scratch a lot of dirt and still come up empty handed. Good idea, too if it is known to give some good gold. What I have learned so far, is that I don't know a lot and that the Gold Detector is only part of the equation. You need to be able to identify rock formations and how geography may have worked millennia ago etc... This next trip is a quick venture to test some further knowledge and try some older techniques. Keep us updated on your mate, always keen to hear people having some fun How much is the loader costing him ?
Water...PFFttt I'll hire you as my personal assistant, free transport, food and grog in return for making sure there is ice for drinks and digging any signals with a 10% share of any findings. ?
Guessing your sig may give a few clues are you interested in that offer in a few weeks ? or something similar ?
Can we share him i'l give you 20% of anything he digs up ......oh wait i cant thats bribery .... i call it wages so it sounds morally acceptable So if we find nothing house wont be able to hold his beer because of the blisters
sounds like a good idea removing the topsoil with the loader before going over it as alot of the good nugget areas in wa have been picked clean up to 10 inches.
I would love to join an expedition like this... and I am not even greedy... cover my costs of the trip and I will dig, cook, whatever just for fun... any donations would be an unexpected bonus.
I'm getting ready for another trip away soon. Research has always been my best tool for beeping yella. Here is a overlay on Google earth for a few places I wish to smash in WA. The dark yellow areas, within the highlight gold are the Gold concentrations within the polygon It saves wondering endlessly on non productive gold ground.
15 ounces of gold is mighty impressive after seeing all the work that the boys from Alaska gold rush put in. Wow!
I did this for fun a few years back just outside of Kalgoorlie, It's definitely worth doing, plenty of fun with friends!
I did this for nickel a few decades back just outside kalgoorlie I'm sure I had a friend and some fun.
