Back in the day (late 70's / early 80's) I used to love watching "Great Mystery's of the World / In Search of" hosted by Leonard Nimoy. It had something for everyone...ghosts, UFO's, missing persons, strange phenomena etc and this beaut on the coming ice age.

Overwhelming majority of climate scientists, international governmental bodies, relevant research institutes and scientific societies are in unison in saying that climate change is real, that it's a problem, and that we should probably do something about it now, not later. And yet, for some reason, the idea persists in some peoples' minds that climate change is up for debate, or that climate change is no big deal.

Actually, it's not “for some reason” that people are confused. There's a very obvious reason. There is a very well-funded, well-orchestrated climate change-denial movement, one funded by powerful people with very deep pockets. In a new and incredibly thorough study, Drexel University sociologist Robert Brulle took a deep dive into the financial structure of the climate deniers, to see who is holding the purse strings.

According to Brulle's research, the 91 think tanks and advocacy organizations and trade associations that make up the American climate denial industry pull down just shy of a billion dollars each year, money used to lobby or sway public opinion on climate change and other issues.

“The anti-climate effort has been largely underwritten by conservative billionaires,” says the Guardian, “often working through secretive funding networks. They have displaced corporations as the prime supporters of 91 think tanks, advocacy groups and industry associations which have worked to block action on climate change.”

“This is how wealthy individuals or corporations translate their economic power into political and cultural power,” he said. “They have their profits and they hire people to write books that say climate change is not real. They hear people to go on TV and say climate change is not real. It ends up that people without economic power don't have the same size voice as the people who have economic power, and so it ends up distorting democracy.

Last year, PBS talked to Brulle about his investigation into the climate change countermovement. The project, says Brulle, is the first part of three: in the future he'll turn a similar eye to the climate movement and to the environmental movement. But for now, the focus is on the deniers.

Now, what you can see in the movement itself is that it has two real roots. One is in the conservative movement itself, in that you see a lot of conservative foundations that had been funding the growth of the conservative movement all along now appear as funding the climate countermovement. You also can see dedicated industry foundations that come in to start funding the climate countermovement.

So it’s kind of a combination of both industry and conservative philanthropies that are funding this process, and what they did was they borrowed a great deal of the strategy and tactics that came out of the tobacco industry’s efforts to prevent action on the health impacts of smoking.

What you see is the tactics that this movement uses were developed and tested in the tobacco industry first, and now they’re being applied to the climate change movement, and in fact, some of the same people and some of the same organizations that were involved in the tobacco issue are also involved in climate change.

Here's Prof Ian Plimer speaking back in 2014 on his then new book "Not for Greens".

TRIGGER warning.....It's got facts and logic, so be warned!

This is a pretty fast moving 30 mins and Prof Plimer comes out swinging against Green hypocrisy inside the first minute (with real life Greens Senator example), then goes onto talk about the science of carbon, why it's important, climate history and why the Green's ideology is flawed. In short, Prof Plimer covers many of the points made by others in this thread. It's well worth 30 mins of your time.

What I found interesting was Prof Plimer talking about his science camps for teens he runs / speaks at in WA. When he went up against a proponent of made man climate change (Govt advisor), the teens listening identified the difference between fact and ideology......this gave me some heart that the current generation going through the education system may still have the smarts to sniff out a rat when all the facts are presented....

Share this vid if you want to educate someone, or trigger them for giggles.

Mini Ice Age coming as predicted by sun spot activity.

Man made CO2 pollution causing earth to warm 1.5 to 2 degrees in the same timeframe.

The race is on. Food production declining. New pandemics. Accelerating extinctions.

What interesting times in which we live.

    Science is "settled".
    https://business.financialpost.com/...politically-incorrect-facts-about-polar-bears

A world-renowned expert in animal bone identification has lost her position at the University of Victoria (UVic) [Canada], she believes for telling school kids politically incorrect facts about polar bears.

Crockford is the author of a popular blog, polarbearscience.com, as well as five books about these animals. Polar Bear Facts and Myths has been translated into four languages. She says that, contrary to the claims of environmental activists, polar bears are currently thriving and are at no risk of extinction from climate change.
    ---
Absent any other plausible explanation, Crockford has concluded that she was removed in order to suppress views on polar bears and related climate change issues and prevent her from continuing to challenge the high-profile academics who claim polar bear populations are in crisis.

    G. Cornelis van Kooten, a UVic professor of economics who also holds a Canada Research Chair in environmental studies, says he is “appalled and distressed” by the Crockford removal. When, he asks, did “universities turn against open debate? There’s now a climate of fear on campus.”
    ---
The Speakers Bureau draws its volunteers from UVic “faculty, staff, graduate students and retirees.” Prospective speakers complete a form on its website, which says nothing about departmental approval. There is no suggestion that presentations must be balanced, and many appear to be overtly political.

For example, Social Studies associate professor Jason Price currently delivers a lecture titled Education and the Revolution: Climate Change and the Curriculum of Life, to students as young as kindergarten age. Patrick Makokoro, a UVic graduate student, offers a presentation to audiences as young as 10 about social justice.

Dwight Owens, an employee of Ocean Networks Canada, an entity affiliated with UVic, has no scientific training. His BA is in Chinese language and literature. His MA is in educational technology. Nevertheless, under the auspices of the UVic Speakers Bureau, he has been giving talks about ocean chemistry and climate change for years.

Climate change????.......The climate has always changed....there is no fixed reference......It states the obvious.
Here is a problem. Those that do not support the movement are accused of being climate change deniers......o.k.
So by reason, a climate change denier supposedly does not acknowledge that the climate is changing.
So the climate changers are trying to get the climate "not' to change which is precisely where the 'deniers' are already at.
Therefore those supporting Climate Change are actually 'wannabe' deniers!!!!!!!
    How is that for logic.

Sounds a bit like the ANTIFA (Fascists) who accuse people of being Fascists whilst beating little old ladies over the head with metal poles. _JLG. adding a bit of logic to the topic.

“You can do more and more and more the longer you live, but the best motto to think about is not waste things. Don’t waste electricity, don’t waste paper, don’t waste food. Live the way you want to live but just don’t waste. Look after the natural world, and the animals in it, and the plants in it too. This is their planet as well as ours. Don’t waste them.”

    - David Attenborough.

And the very next paragraph makes mention of our increased technological capacity.

Natural constraints only exist until we possess the technology that allows us to bust through them. This is an entirely natural process, just like evolution.

Early life on earth was confined to seas and rivers etc because of natural constraints, one reason being no legs to walk with. Evolution busted through that and we’ll keep busting through other natural constraints hopefully. Just because natural limitations exist it doesn’t mean they should govern our lives.

Have you read his (anti) climate change book Heaven & Earth?
SPOILER: It's complete and utter garbage. Probably the worst anti-climate change "argument" I've heard.
