I have not heard this anywhere but does anyone think one of the reasons for the NBN is so the government can have more control over internet activity in Australia and will be easier to censor and see what people are doing on the net?

Would the NBN make those things easier todo?

No doubt there will be all kinds of back doors incorporated into the system.

Possibly, but if you want to hide from Govt, you dont go hi tech, you go low tech. Use smoke and fire (not kidding). Use regular mail with cyphers. Trade only in physical currency. Go off the grid for most stuff.

Going online and wanting privacy actually is almost impossible. Even now all your (our) conversation can be easily monitored. Emails, ip addresses, https tunnels, everything has a key to it.

So, if you think Govt wants to exploit our private data and do something about it, once you are online, you have begun to contribute into the whole data gathering. Nothing we can do about it but keep our heads on our shoulder.
