Junk science articles written by junk journos.

Edit to add: I prefer to get my information from scientific research, eg there are none that prove GMO is deadly, there's a good one that debunks the effects of glyphosate in groundwater supplies and its impact on humans.

Most of the the complaints about Monsanto are either purely emotive eg they're evil, they're big, they're trying to take over the food industry or they're property rights issues. I ignore the first type but do find the second somewhat interesting.

One of the drawbacks of the internet is the ease at which idiocy can also be spread. :p

How many of these protests would you have heard of or seen on the news if is wasn't for social media. Pre internet and social media, only what the TV showed for 30 seconds at 6pm or the main newspapers printed....

IMO I don't think we have more civil unrest / crimes being committed than 10, 20 or 40 years ago, the only difference is that now each person (smart phone in hand) can be a reporter and post an event live....thus we are saturated / bombarded with news / events 24/7/365 and is feels like the world is going off it's rocker.

Imagine if smart phones and social media had been around for the 1992 LA riots. All we saw on TV was a few repeated images of someone getting pulled from a car and beaten...same with the ant-Vietnam marches or the LA - Watts riots of 1965.

Social media (IT) is a blessing and also a curse.

Benevolent dictators don't exist because the ability of a dictator to hold onto dictatorial power is to eradicate opposition by all means. If benevolent dictators exist, then benevolent murderers would also exist, which is an oxymoron.

However, benevolent kings do exist in history.

The mainstream media don't have a monopoly on twisted facts, it's mostly the alternative media that makes a living off twisted facts. Just look at some of the trash linked to on this forum. Self-responsibility and a critical mind are essential filters nowadays.

I basically agree with every point you made. Especially the Vanity Fair bit, my bad, didn't check my source :)

It's just that I see the first point ( bolded ) as their ultimate motivation, and the last point as the mechanism to achieve this.

Otherwise what sort of business model they do have? , altruistic? o_O

Profit should be the ultimate motive. And the free-market the ultimate economic model.

That leaves no room for crony-capitalism (which includes rent-seeking patents like Monsanto has), no political favours and no benevolent dictators (or democratically elected governments) sitting in their counting houses using the power of the State to force their values on to others. It’s just businesses competing against each other in a race to satisfy consumer needs and desires in order to make money. :)

And if someone is not happy, get on to the street and protest.

Everybody has the right to have your own view-but if the facts contradicts our belief we should change the view if we are able to so or our awareness allows us to do so.
I can provide more facts-there some very interesting to read...
With further digging, researchers discovered GMOs considered ‘xenoestrogen,’ which is a foreign estrogen that mimics real estrogen within the human body, which can lead to an increased risk of certain cancers, such as breast, early onset puberty, thyroid issues, and infertility.

Other studies published in the US National Library of Medicine, showed the potential health effects of a commonly used GMO, glyphosate, and how it can be an endocrine disruptor. Endocrine disruptors can result in developmental disorders, birth defects, and cancerous tumors. The research indicated glyphosate can have multiple effects in human hormone-dependent breast cancer, which could be traced back to contaminated soybean products as dietary supplements that can pose a risk of causing breast cancer due to it potential additive estrogenicity.

Specifically, this GMO inhibits the CYP enzymes, which is the pathway for normal, natural functioning of various biological systems within the body. As humans are exposed to glyphosate, they experience a significant decrease in their amino acid tryptophan levels, causing the necessary active signaling of the neurotransmitter serotonin to misfire or not work at all, which is associated with an individual experiencing weight gain and depression. Glyphosate has also been linked to autism, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s for this reason.

You can't read this sort of statements in the Murdoch control Press, but if you do your own research deep in this field-especially when you've go someone in family sick you will find the facts.
Like Monsanto well-there some people who like devil too-the choice belongs to us...

@madaw1 , without having seen the source material you base your post on it’s very difficult to counter your assertions.

Much of the anti-GMO literature is predatory journalism. If you’d like a quick summary debunking supposed research proven facts of the link between glyphosate and oestrogen receptors, Alzheimers, Parkinson’s etc as well as the more common fallacies that people who ingest GMO are at risk of their DNA being integrated with the DNA of the GMO foods, as well as birth defects click here: https://geneticliteracyproject.org/...allenged-studies-suggesting-gmos-are-harmful/
