I have recently seen a number of silver bullion coins that have portions gilded. Does this increase or decrease the coins value?? Like the Canadian wildlife series and Rwanda coins.
Yes it increases the value, however! Be careful to never over pay, always check prices, google, dealers, even ask here for a price check if you feel like you are being over charged. I was bitten by gilded lunars but I dont regret buying them, they are so good looking
I love Gilded. Just got this one. Wowsza! Simply unbeatable, IMHO. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171036011894?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
In summary, yes the gilded coins are typically worth more than plain bullion BUT often their premium over their plain bullion cousins is so high that the plain bullion have a better prospect of a higher % return over coming years.
These are my gilded coins, I want to eventually get the whole set. They were expensive and I dont view them as a good investment, I brought them because it is something I like, not to resell, if your in it for an investment go bullion, as cheap as you can find. If you want something flash that "should" retain it's premium then go the big known names: kooks, koalas, lunars PAMPs, ASEs, Canadian maple leafes, ect. As for gilded my suggestion is only buy for collection purposes
I picked up a gilded one like this recently: http://www.apmex.com/product/76062/2013-1-oz-silver-canadian-wildlife-series-wood-bison-gilded The coin looks better than the picture that depicts it. A very nice looking gold gilded coin in fact.
How do u know if I coin is an aftermarket gilded silver? I'm looking a 2001 britannia and was considering the gilded one instead of the pure silver.
