Some info on the Superchanges, apparently being sneaked into another bill

For sure, everyone has an agenda, whether they want to share it with the public or not.

Most of their campaigns are about Green issues or Government cutting handouts, as is this one.

Still, probably wouldn't have heard about the changes through other channels.

The handout is paid for by the mining tax that has been destructive to the economy, preventing investment and erasing employment. The handout is one of the crumbs scattered to the welfare classes so that they will support the tax that otherwise has no direct impact on them and would otherwise ignore.

Labor needed the welfare classes to support the mining tax so it has things in it like this.

However it is well known by both sides the mining tax is faulty and doesn't do what it intended, so it has to be repealed. And the crumbs given out to the welfare classes need to be repealed also as they are part of the same package.

Simplest way that I can describe it.

It's actually old news Jis :) there was a post about it somewhere here. On the other hand though, the Government shouldn't be giving anyone money for their super. Scrap all co-contributions.

I say scrap compulsory super, esp if under say 40 - young people would get a better return after tax using their super payments to repay their mortgages earlier (this assumes anyone can afford to buy a house these days)

    No.

    You are thinking logically.

Most people don't think like that. Compulsory super helps all average Australians with an on-going and "Future tax burden (Social security).

Most people would simpliy piss the money against the wall.

Have you seen how much debt people have on credit cards? The Australian culture is not one of saving for the future...so we have no option but to enforce compulsory super.

The crook thing about super is that...depending on the super fund...the so called expert fund managers can loose your capital...ie: 2008 crash where many folk lost hundreds of thousands. Sure people can do smf but that has its problems too.

How about we place a huge tax on foreigners who buy Australian residential and farmlandland so that ordinary Australians can afford a home.

Australia for Australians...and most of the foreign folk who invest in Australia have very deep pockets.

How about having a decent bank interest rate so Aussies can save and...don't tax bank savings.

Great post! Couldn't agree more. Stopping the sell out to foreigners should be any real patriotic govts first priority.

    +1

Scrap compulsory super regardless of age.

And the aged pension, or make it accessible at 85 or something.
