Article on ZH stating Germany will be repatriating gold from NY and France. Trying to work out if it's legit or a hoax.

Well according to the source website, Handelsblatt, the story is "Exklusiv" so there are no other source yet. They do claim an official announcement is coming in the next 1-2 days though.

But seriously, I think the ZH summary is sensationalist (what's new) because it is not very clear how much gold will really be requested, and over what time frame. For example, it is possible only a small percentage will be requested and that they will have a few months to make delivery.

 

I think the more pressing info is that they want all of their gold back from France -which you think they'd be less worried about since it's right next door.

There is now more press coverage, however they are regurgitations of the original article from the German newpaper Handelsblatt.

9am Germany is in about 6 hours or so, which is when the official announcement is supposedly taking place. Spot watchers get your popcorn.
