For sale. 98 x sterling silver encapsulated medallions from the Mountbatten History of Great Britain & The Sea collection Struck by John Pinches in hallmarked sterling silver, and issued around 1974 They are beautiful medallions depicting various events in British maritime history. When originally released they came in a presentation folder however now they are loose in capsules. They were produced 46 years ago but there is very little toning. They are all in capsules and I only saw a few with either toning or marks on them. They are a beautiful chronicle of British maritime history. The complete set consists of 100 medallions but there are only 98 for sale here. I went through them all and number 78 H.M.S. Furious – Evolution of the Aircraft Carrier, and number 80 The Battle of Jutland – 1916 are missing. That is how I got them. Average weight of each medallion is 37.5g but due to the higher relief of some of the designs the actual weights of each can vary from between 36g and 40g which works out at slightly over 1 troy oz of .999 silver per medallion. Total weight of the 98 medallions, is 3.67kg of sterling silver which is just over 3.4kg of .999 silver. Price is $3852 at current spot of Au$1133/kg Postage is your choice and risk and I will only send within Australia. I have supplied photo's, however I never realized until just now how hard it is to take a good photo of silver coins. Some of the details is quite fine however this is the best that I could do. The hallmark is tiny and hence it is a very ordinary photo, my apologies. If you have any questions then feel free to send a PM or ask here.
