Pick up the gold itself? Or possibly the steel spring in the clasp?

The clasp, but shouldn't the clasp also be gold?

There is still a steel spring within the clasp to provide the tension required to spring closed.

Any piece of jewellery with a clasp has the spring. Gold is to ductile to be used in such a manner.

If the clasp is the only thing magnetic, there shouldn't be an issue, and you should conduct further testing before jumping the gun and accusing a misrepresentation

    Carloc,

You need to make good on your sale and refund GM even if you have the police involved. If you are not here to scam anyone why don't you refund the money once the bar is returned and follow up the case with the police yourself.

It would be the honourable thing to do!

    BM.

I have tested it multiple times and get different results on the different pieces. I think I will take it to get tested, as anyone would do. To be sure to be sure.

    Carloc,

You had stated that you had it checked, you now say there is a possibility that it is fake and the way you spoke to seven of nine saying its on its way not to worry when they had said they had already tested it seems like a poor attempt at damage control, police dont get involved so easily especially since you do not physically have the bar at the moment, why would they involve themselves prior to seeing the bar, makes no sense, we all would like to see immediate refunds to the people who have received fake items, this is the absolute worst thing that can happen to our community here along with people not sending nothing at all...

Please rectify the situation promptly, if we give you the benefit of the doubt your reputation on here will be tainted but with time and some positive trades you will gain it back but there is only one road to that....

And i suggest in future if you SAY you have had something XRF tested that it actually be true....

If your reputation here means anything to you then start refunding immediately

Nothing personal because It looked great to me but for the sake of your rep and our stacker community let this end with a happy story

Was going to steer clear of input here, but there is too much inconsistency.

    Unfortunately both cannot be true.

It's great that people like SilverTounge15 go the extra yard to chase (an alleged) rabbit down a hole, hopefully it will end well for the purchaser and the supplier.
    Just my 2 BOBS WORTH.

Holes... holes everywhere and trust is falling through all of them.

Trust is what this community is all about.

    Very disappointing.

I have only been on this forum for a short time but it has quickly become my most visited website.

    I love it.

I have learned a lot, talked to a lot of great people and bought some nice silver.

However, My confidence in buying off this forum has been shaken.

I also purchased one of these bars from Carloc, only after he stated that all of his gold had been XRF tested.

Now, I don't know if my bar is a fake also.

I am in country Vic and am sure there is nowhere locally to test the bar.

This was my first gold purchase.

We did a f 2 f in Melbourne last Sunday.

Carloc seemed like a straight forward decent guy.

I am sure that he would not have set out to intentionally sell fakes.

I will now have to come back into Melb to get it tested in the next few days.

I will let you know the result.

If there is a problem I am sure Carloc will do the right thing.

Thank you forum members for your vigilance.

From those photos it is clear the bar is way too thick, if Carloc has been stacking for 9 years he should have picked this anomoly up straight away. Something here is very suspicious........Yuripuka, maybe you could post some pics too. Thickness is a dead giveaway at first glance of a fake.
