Seems like the discussion here on SS is dying.

These elections are pretty important in the "Current Affairs" category. 1st round of voting is looking like a showdown between Macron and Le Pen. This is pretty important story for geopolitical effect on gold and gold has already dropped about $15 USD on the likely 1st round outcome.

This was the summary outcome for the scenario according to MarketSlant :-

Been following it on 4Chan /pol/ but I do not think that is a very reliable source of information at the best of times.

It is an important election as it will give us an idea of where the EU is heading.
I like that Macron has now been decided as favourite to win the runoff because i will put a few hundred on LePen to win as the polls have not been right for the last few years .
In fact the polls have been showing the exact opposite of what really happens.
LePen will be the next(and first woman) French President.

It is interesting as it may reinforce the political landscape changes that are happening across Europe - it may even point to the fate of the EU. The French don't generally do things by halves.

There was a 44 hour media ban in France that finished at 4am this morning. I started to get updates from the NYT and BBC from then with the expected results. I sometimes think that events move so quickly, that a forum post is history within hours.

I would like to see Le Pen win next fortnight which will spell the end of the EU. However, recent commentary indicates that it will be she up against the rest.

Hey Sammy just look at all the "recent commentary" with regard to Brexit and Trump.
The commentators in the media espouse what they want to happen ,NOT the true state of things.
We may very well see a LePen President:)

Agents of Moscow still may attempt something drastic between now and May 10th.

If I was Mr. Macron, I'd be:
    • minimizing the number of public events I am attending
    • no more public rallies full of un-vetted people
    • making only unscheduled public appearances

I think Roswell should run to cover there bets now and pop a sly $50 on LePen at bet365 @$5.50 so if the worst happens (lol) itll only have cost $25 in real terms.

The people of France know Marine LePen is her daddy's little girl, that's a problem because her father is more or less a Vichy bastard.
