    You must live on mars.

At every level of education (primary, secondary and tertiary) I have come across staff that could barely be understood. They get jobs,

Yet many talented local teachers are locked out of the jobs market.....I believe it has to do with multi culti policies of govt depts and unis.

These days if you're a white bloke, you're last on the list after aborigines, the disabled or medically unfit (compassionate grounds) ie make up bullshit and get a dr to play along, women and minorities.

One only needs to deal with a govt dept to see subtle anti white male policies in action.

And you can speak Indian? Of course not. "They're not very smart"? They have some of the top doctors/surgeons/GP's etc coming from there. You can't even hold down a simple job  Hopefully your xenophobia will one day teach you a lesson.

Better pray they are better than Dr Patel.

IMO it would be better to expand university places for medicine than to bring in overseas doctors.

Of course it's possible but the AMA wants to limit the number of doctors graduating every year to keep up their "prestige" and high pay of their profession.

My father told me that during the depression he was digging down
a deep trench with others, with their shirts off.
The foreman would walk along the top of the trench and throw sharp stones
    onto their backs.
    Anyone who complained was sacked.

Why would the foreman bother with doing that? He has to have a certain number to do the job and he only has to go to the trouble of finding another man. Pick out a slacker and get rid of him certainly, but not that.

TheEnd - your xenophobic ignorance knows no bounds! English is one of the two official languages in India. At the low end of the scale, there are an estimated 100 million people in India who speak English, while other estimates put the English speaking population in excess of 350 million people. By comparison, the estimated number of English-speakers in Australia is around 17.5 million.

For your education, there are a few other snippets:

    - De facto, English is the "common" language among most educated Indians today. When two Indians from different states meet, they invariably communicate with each other in English.

    - English is the language of all businesses, government and education.

    - The entire university education in India is in English.

    - Every computer user in India uses Microsoft Windows English-edition. Microsoft has provided support for Indian languages only from Windows Vista released in 2006 and not even 1 percent of all computer users in India use Indian languages for computers. All emailing within India is in English.

    - In every major city of India, the cable TV has at least 25 English channels. There are many Indian English channels and others are the American/Western channels.

    - The Times of India, an English language daily newspaper in India, is officially the world's largest selling English language daily newspaper.

OC, there is limited information about the Depression of the 1890s, but everything I've seen indicates it was even worse than the 1930s depression, it just didn't go for as long. Depressions happen, we live through them.

If Bernanke, Obama etc stopped trying to make the waves crashing onto the shore they'd just happen and the water would recede as normal.
