    These fakes have way better packaging also.. The older fakes had that shocking heat sealed rim packaging.

    Is the reputation of certicards/securitycards, and gold packaged in these, permanently damaged? Given the growing sophistication of fakes, can anything be done?

    I foresee a time when all such packaged gold will need to be recertified, which could be good business opportunity for a dealer with an idle XRF scanner. But I think such a service would work best with additional security services such as an online database of all certified gold along with hirez images. Or something at least.

    i've seen them in person before; most bullion dealers would struggle to recognize them unless they remove it from the package and analyze/weigh them they are that good. scary considering how you can easily get them off of eBay for peanuts.

    And the only way to tell if it was fake the text allignment of CertiCard SECURITY CASE on the front gave plot away. Was there any other way to detect if it was fake without a XRF Scanner ?

    Then they'll just fake the dealer's recertification as well. :(
