Saw this tonight - ebay item 150747172552.

As far as I can tell it aint real. I think i can spot a number of discrepancies.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Rule number one. Don't buy pms from feebay. Looks pretty similar to me... But not worth the pain if it's fake

I always see gold 1/2 roos and nuggets for sale on ebay with 0 feedback. It might be real but I dont think you would get it if you buy it. I would stay away.
Has anyone been burnt from this or noticed this?

If it was $300... May be tempting, but it would be cash you never see again.

The seller has plenty of ebay id's,listing 1/2 ounce coins regularly and ending the listing before the end time. The descriptions are the same with all listings and I'm sure we are not able to see this listing after a few days.

well the case looks legit and I have never seen a fake 1991...

I have only seen fake PM coins from 2010 onwards as well so I would actually say it's real. I went into photoshop and ghosted 1 over the other, as you can see they match up perfectly when you forget the poor image quality of the ebay coin:

What you see as differences are simply shadows changing the look of the image, as both coins have different light sources - a common mistake people make.

Thanks. I think you are right. Paranoia on my part - I think I will go with my gut feel and stay away from ebay.

I agree there are plenty of other deals out there and Gold is at a price now that, and the spoondaly you'd be forking out for even a 1/10th, it's just not worth the risk

Discernment. If you are that paranoid about being ripped off on Ebay, then there a few alternatives:
    1. Cash Face to Face with Seller only[/*]
    2. If outside of your traveling distance organize with another person whom you trust to take delivery (Face to Face pickup), such as a trusty member here in SilverStackers in another State on your behalf.[/*]

Plenty of bargains to be had on Ebay, both in Australia and Worldwide. Everyone starts 'somewhere'.

I have never been burnt with purchasing PMs via Ebay.

Roman is right about the coins. Lightning exposure and aperture affect appearance (photo). I express from personal experience with 1/10th ozt version of those coins. I auctioned off some here in SilverStackers many months ago. Sometimes the little impurities start appearing on the obverse or reverse due to reaction over time (even if kept in airtite capsule), this only has little influence on price.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no, I wouldn't trust anything ebay says since they have done this to many auctions that i have bid on. After contacting seller, they usually come through. I know risky, but so far, I have gained more than lost.
Also, another reason I say this, is i sold $18000 worth of stuff just before Christmas, and ebay did the same to me, canceling all my transactions and sending that email to all my buyers.
Ebay still cant explain why, as they have given 4 different reasons, telling me to disregard the previous reason.

There are actually 4 members like this, could be fake as they are following a similar pattern i saw late last year with a few selling fake jewelry, however one of them is supposedly located in burwood, so im bidding on his, and will do pickup. Has every potential to be real since in some countries such as china, they will register in ebay US, and burwood has a large chinese student population, and these coins are chinese coins. I have bought similar coins from students in burwood before.

I actually got to view these items today. A customer of mine came to see me, and brought these items to check. These are soo fucking good, even match up perfectly with NGC. They even managed to put the coins at the same angle as the pictures on NGC website. However, they are defiantly fake.
Just wondering though, is it common to fake graded coins?? Anyone else see this much?

Most of the pictures look legit but anyone willing to send $700 to a zero feedback seller is just an idiot
