So, have I made the correct deduction?

"For all you guys arguing about whether or not gold and silver are money- it was legally into currency in Utah recently"

Yes, but I am not arguing whether it is money or not. It is money, at least it is worth some currency we call money.

I am trying to discuss the reality of the current economical situation. Hoping to gain better understanding of the problem and future solutions.

For me personally, as much as I value PM, it is not the ultimate solution, because the ultimate problem is not in fiat or PM it is in humanity itself.

Can't solve humanity (need genocide or evolution for that, or rapturebomb), so the next thing is economic solution.

Indeed - this is what happens when a government takes away your children at age 4 or 5 (under threat of force of course) and indoctrinates them with their statist/socialist bullshit under the guise of "education" ...
you get generations of zombies being produced who think that its the role of government to meddle and interfere with everything that it deems nescessary to "fix" ...

PMs and honest money backed by PMs IS the ultimate solution ...
It's worked before and it will work again - only this time humanity needs to ensure that the integrity of the system is protected from the inbreds ... the scourge of humanity ... the bankers and their corrupt puppets the policitians ...

    SAVVY ???

How do we protect the system from the scourge of humanity? Today's regular honest/noble person can become tomorrow's politician. A shift in career/needs/wants/brain damage/greed/mental breakdown can change the person's standing.

How can we ensure that humans stay honest? This has failed in the past and will fail again.

I agree that paper backed by gold has worked and can work, but it is also open to manipulation. The root of all this is the manipulator, which a lot of people don't realise, we all are potential manipulators. We are all corruptible. Not corrupt now doesn't mean not corrupt in the future.

Not trying to pick a fight, just want to clarify. Discussion is always good. :)

what threat of force? I am free not to send my kids to school or homeschool them in any curriculum I want.

I was educated back in Indonesia, well thats as indoctrinated as you can get (the Suharto regime is kind/god/love), Indonesia is superior, etc and all that kind of bs.
Australia indoctrinated? How? I read through their curriculum and at 4-10 at least they dont talk about tax or any of that sort. Heck even religion is not talked about much.

In theory Government is the representation of all of us. In practice of course it is very different. But they do have to "meddle" for example: Roads and Telecommunication.
Left in private hands, who builds the roads and if built at what cost do we use them? Telco ..... internet, phone, adsl, nbn if all these is done by private, how much would it cost?
As for privacy, tax, etc. Well, nothing in life is free.

I agree with you jpanggy - we are all corruptible and people will manipulate the system to benefit themselves,

Just about any system invented by humans, no matter how well intentioned, will eventually fail.

You cannot change human nature and the instincts within us to dominate, possess, greed etc It has been proven in human behaviour experiments that once put in a position of power a persons personality changes (polticians?)

Then there is the overwhelming pressure from all sides once in power. I cant think of anything worse than being a politician myself but some people crave the power and are probably the very ones that shouldn't have it.

Most really honest people just could not remain in power once they see all the corruption going on around them and that is the problem - most honest. peace loving people do not want the positions of power in the first place. Unfortunately, any who try to scourge the system of corruption will be threatened and maybe even assassinated so they keep quiet!
How many people would risk their lives or jobs or reputation to be a whisleblower? Some have and have suffered for their efforts!

The only solution is an eventual total collapse of the system, a clean sweep of all those in positions of authority and start again until ....eventually, bit by bit, it all becomes corrupt again. We are in a system now which rewards those most corrupt (take the bankers for example!) but punishes those who work hard.

It seems to me those people who want the power or want to hold onto their power at all cost are the most corrupt.

This is exactly why we need SMALL GOVERNMENT ... which is the way it was originally intended by the founding fathers...

The trouble though is that modern western governments trample all over the constitution in order to spread their influence/control over society like a cancer, and the sheeple are dum enough to just accept it and keep voting in the same scumbags over and over again

If everything was created privately then it would be made for much cheaper and better maintained. Government projects are ridiculous. I have mates working at the desalination plant making$ 4,500 a week which is because they can charge the government whatever they like because it's not the governments money, so nobody cares.
Well i finished high school two years ago and can tell you there was loads of propaganda, especially in economics! I just didn't realise it until i started my own studies.

    Yippe -

Not sure if small goverment works either looking at the local shires! I notice that those councillors who seem the most honest and have nothing to gain usually retire but those with something to gain stay . I know one shire where all the big local farmers were councillors and they all ended up subdividing their land into hobby blocks and made a fortune!

Thats local government you're talking about there - they are all illegal anyway - their is no constitutional basis for local government, and they certainly dont have the legal right to tax you...

The small government i am for is referring to the federal level.

This, as well as many other libertarian concepts is wonderfully explained here:

Given that the constitution you seem to be referring to only applies to the US, I fail to see how modern western governments in general are trampling all over it.

    Actualy, not true.

What you have raised here is corruption. Government projects are mired in corruption. Whenever you hear the word lobby/tender, you can pretty much equate the whole thing to corruption and price fixing.

Privately built can be corrupt as well, sub contractors often bribe CEO or purchasing managers to win their tender. Overall building cost can be lower, but the eventual cost to the public will be higher. Because normally they are under the pressure for profit (break even point 4 years or less). No private corporation will invest something with break even point above 20 years, heck even above 10 years is corporate suicide (makes more money by putting it in the bank than the project).

As for the issue of propaganda, well it is all relative, you say propaganda, they say selling the message. So it is open to interpretation, as long as you are free to ignore them, then I guess no harm done. A real problem would be punishing you if you dont support their message.

Feasible in small population at small geographical spread, but not to bigger countries. Try China and America. If you even have social service department, how massive the department will be?

Put in military .... well, you get the point.

Actually its possible in any country. The US had small government during the 18th and 19th centuries and this led to real economic growth and prosperity never seen since.

    savvy??

You thinking its not possible is simply a testament to how well you've been brainwashed, apparently without even realising it

one example - the Australian constitution makes no provision for local governments - yet they're here - taxing us to death and threatening to expropriate private property should you not pay up.

another would be income tax ...

    savvy??

Actually, I think it's not possible due to size and population.

Having said that, anything is possible.

A small government would only mean smaller role being played by the government in many issues.

If you don't tax, who funds road building? Railways?

And if privately built, how much would it cost for everyone to use it? Private corporations are as greedy if not more greedy than government tax man.

Corporations can indeed be even greedier, but thats only due to government interference in the first place, which leads to a lopsided market and prevents real competition occuring.
