    Hi all,

I found a company in Syd that does the service for PCGS grading. Apparently the grading will cost $35 each for coin of value <$300, and if we have over 20 coins, the fee is reduced to $25 each.
Not sure if the price is competitive, so any input will be appreciated.

I only have 6 coins I'm thinking of grading, so if anyone else is after this service, maybe we can combine them to save costs.

Please PM if you're interested (EOI only for the time being).

    Cheers,
    LO

I have a centenary florin I would like graded but not sure which company to go with, PCGS or NGC. I know NGC are the pic of the 2 when it comes to Chinese coins, is their a general preference when it comes Australian coins?

    Any info would be great.

    Cheers

The grading will be done by PCGS, this company looks after the logistics (posting ect).

Actually i prefer NGC, only because the holder looks nicer :p

[Calling panda experts] : when you use NGC/NCS, do they conserve the coin for you automatically? Or do you have to pay extra for that? Is the costing mentioned reasonable? And am i right to assume NGC should be cheaper compared to PCGS?

    Many thanks.

Conservation is extra. I think NGC cost is around $20 per coin but you need to get the coins to the US. Prices may have increased recently (since I looked into it).

Just an update, based on the info I've received so far, seems like PCGS is the only cost effective one (due to volume).

To clarify, below are the rates for PCGS grading:
    1. Modern coin <$300 value (e.g. Perth mint silver coin) will cost $25 each
    2. Pre-decimal <$300 value will cost $35 each
    3. Coins valued between $300 to $3000 will be $55 each
Turn around time is 12 to 16 weeks (NOTE!)

The costs mentioned above includes the postage from this company to PCGS and back to this company. So there will be extra postage cost from you to me, back to you.

Please PM if interested, I'll only go ahead if we collectively have more that 20 items.

    Thank you :)

For Australian Pre-Decimal PCGS are the ones to go with IMO. They have the biggest representation in the Aus market. I know the two local larger firms in Numis in WA use PCGS I have never seen a NGC holder. For my Pre-Dec PCGS all the way. Chinese MCC I will go NGC

    Hope that helps.

So does PCGS do conservation as well? If so how much extra is it?

Any chance of some pics before you send them in ? Just curious to gauge some of the potential grades and variety being sent in. Would be appreciated but understand if not.

Edit - It also gives you a record of your coin ?

The cost for ncs/ngc is 26,50. Plus 8 uss for 10 coins (if i remember well is the handling cost).
Plus the shipping to usa and outside usa.

    Last bump!
I've only got 1 confirmed PM. Currently still short of ~10 items. EOI will be closed tonight, if we can't make 20, we'll have to cancell this.

Please PM if interested with the list of items.
    Have a great weekend!
