Someone got a bargain, 3 x 50c coins for $51.50 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Bulk-Lot-196...U_Coins2&hash=item230d4e5c21&autorefresh=true
A friend of mine owns a gold & silver jewelry store... and also buys gold & silver. I was in there back in December and he was buying some US 90% silver coins from a person that walked in. He paid him only $8.00 x face... and the guy was happy to get that. It amaze me that some people don't really know the value of silver and gold. Most of the pawn shops around here don't buy silver or other white metals... I placed an ad in the local paper on the first of December to buy silver and plat. but no call to date. I signed a 6 month contract for this ad.
I was looking in the coin section of an antique shop yesterday. Saw he had some 1966 50's and asked how much they were. While he was pulling them out of the cabinet he proceeded to tell me that they were "pure" silver and that they were only released for one year so were very sought after by collectors. Ok.....here we go. How much do you want for them? After much head rubbing he said......$7 each. Thank you very much!!!
I don't see any issue with someone stating their price and what they want. I do have an issue if they lie about details but that is another story. If someone wants to sell at that price without doing any DD that means they are happy with it and feel that quadrupling their money is a good return. But I do agree that is a very low price to offer...
I picked up 16 US 90% 50 cent coins today at a "second hand shop" for $7.00 each. The sales man told me "if you wait till Friday were having a sale... 10% off" GREAT price without the sale.
Well.... I can tell you he's out of 1966 50's if that's what you're after! Was also offered English half crowns for $8. I dont know anything about them so I left them there. C
