I have a couple of old Seiko chronograph automatics that are nearly 40 years old. They are in working condition however both require a good service and a few replacement parts. Anyone here know of a good Seiko watch maker in Sydney that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.
I bought a lovely 80's model seiko diving watch from kosma888 on ebay. It had been serviced, new face, band and polished, it was like new. Pretty sure he the one that does them up, know nothing more sorry. I don't trust digital under water.
Similar problem with an Omega, but I am in Melbourne. Perhaps I should just ship it to Switzerland, as I have done previously.
I have a watchmaker in Melbourne CBD who can fix anything If any of you guys/gals want to send it to Melbourne
Thanks Guys, I think my problem is solved. Just contacted a watchmaker in Adelaide that should be able to refurbish my watches. Both of these watches cost me around $50 each when I bought them duty free in 1974 & 1975 The stopwatch function is not working on them however they still keep good time. They are now classic watches with good refurbished examples nowadays going for 10+ times that.
How did you go with that? I let mine wind down once, it runs fast now and not keen on paying $800 for a service
Surprisingly, it was cheaper to send the Omega to Switzerland for a service, than to have Melbourne service it. It came back as good as new too. That was a few years ago, so I am not sure if the same pricing applies.
Nick is pretty well known in the watch scene and should be able to help or guide you in the right direction. He is also Sydney based. http://clockmaker.com.au/ http://www.clockmaker.com.au/diy_seiko_7s26/index.html
