Listening to Triple M this morning around 8.30AM the old Storage King add comes on (you know, store it with Storage King). I swear at the end of it they had a quick comment before the theme song that "Remember store your silver in paper or plastic bags to prevent tarnishing" Surely this is a sign that it is about ready to hit the main stream?
http://www.storageking.com.au/hints.html Wrapping silver in NON ACID tissue paper or plastic bags can help reduce tarnishing.
Don't get too excited folks - people have been putting silver flatware into storage for years I'm sure bullion storage isn't even on their radar.
Exactly, when most people say 'Im going to get the silver out' they arent talking about a pamp bar in the cupboard, they mean grandmas silver dinner set
I was watching the TV last night, the story was about foreclosures on storage units in the US. Basically, the people can't afford to pay the rent on the units anymore so they break them open & auction the contents off to recover the costs. It was funny, they break the lock, open the door, the bidders aren't allowed to explore the contents, they just do a visual from outside & bid accordingly. It was an interesting visual. It seemed that not too many bargains were had. Mostly junk.
Hello, I have found many plastic items have chemicals in them that do react with silver, especially polystyrene, which I have found packed on the top coin in many tubes to stop coins from rattling around, whilst in transit. The top coin is marked badly. I vacuum seal all stacks. I recently opened 3 yr old stack that was in A1 condition. Hope this is helpful to someone. Maggie.
Hehe Maggie, Vac pack the silver, along with the fresh Fish Fillets & pop them in the freezer ! Who would ever think to look in there ? Well until now
A friend of mine posted on facebook he was taking some silver into the city to change for cash. Silly me assumed he meant bullion, apparently he meant 20c peices.....so that made for an interesting conversation as I excitedly messaged him
