Mr Trump is considering reducing the social distancing restrictions. He wants this virus thing over quickly.

    Some quotes from
    https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/h...s/news-story/42206bca2be90f0e0b02cd69fa0e7323

    He said

“Our country wasn’t built to be shut down. This is not a country that was built for this. It was not built to be shut down.

“This was a medical problem. We are not going to let it turn into a long-lasting financial problem. It started out as a purely medical problem and it’s not going to go beyond that. We’re just not going to allow that to happen.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked whether any of the medical experts advising the President had endorsed a quick easing of measures. He acknowledged they had not.

“If it were upt to the doctors, they’d say shut down the entire world for a couple of years,” said Mr Trump.

He said he was looking at lifting restrictions within weeks, not months.

“I’m not looking at months, I can tell you right now.”

    ..........................................................................................................

I love his confidence or is it bravado. Whichever he wants want a number of SS members have suggested - lets just get it over with.

This had to come when a world so focus on money makes ethical health decisions for everyone. I am sure that the USA will not be the only country following this path. Donald bless his soul said that plenty of people die each year from Flu and car accidents so why are we letting this virus disrupt our economy.

It has to be said that this is Senicide with Eugenic overtones. Economically the old, frail and sick provide so little economic input that they are not and should not be part of the decision process for an economic engine. Donald is about to take the USA down a path from which they will not return. Ethically this will destroy what is left of the true heart of the country.

In the last few years when I heard the possible end of the USA I never thought it possible. Maybe I thought there is some very remote possibility. Now I see it loud and clear.

The country has not started on this path yet. Even if these policies get started it might still be turned back but once it is in full force then I see a clear path by which the USA will fall apart.

For the tens of millions that will die in the USA - may they rest in peace.

Stay safe people. We are entering a truly new period. Strengthen your community and stay prepared.

Maybe there's something that he knows and we don't?

I hope they have a vaccine that was already prepared and ready to go.

Not in the risk category for covid so only if forced to. Have never taken an unnecessary vaccine (i.e yearly flu shot)

Trump is very Asian in the way he thinks, so you have to read behind the meaning. What he is trying to say is you need to prepare to come out of your homes. Find your masks, make them at home or whatever. Don't get too comfortable hiding at home.

There is always the possibility that it has already been included in yearly flu shots.

Death rate in the USA is substantially lower than Italy or pretty much any country I have seen except Singapore. Australia is also low but we have few cases so far.

Still in noting the lower death rate in the USA so far. This will still mean more than 2 million deaths after 200 million caught it.

I guess there are a lot of flu and car deaths so this isn’t a big number.

The context is the time frame. 2 million in six months or 2 million over 2 years.

I have pondered this over the last couple of days, and I think it is not as simple as your above sentence implies.
Every intention of our politicians is supposed to be for "the common good".
I have been trying to balance up this philosophy with the current situation in Australia.
So far, we have had 7 (8?) deaths.
The actions of the last 48hrs have put a potential 1 million out of work, cost the country around $100 billion in subsidies to the unproductive (yes, I'm filthy on the Lib's for this - it should have all gone into businesses IMO), cost millions of citizens thousands to their retirement savings, sent uncountable productive businesses to the wall, etc. .... and this is just day 1.
The QLD commie party, who has already sent the state broke, has just decided to use COVID as an excuse to drop $4 billion of their own on taxpayer-funded pre-election virtue signalling.
This all seems a little unbalanced, if not excessive, in regards to "the common good".
There is no other health risk or safety hazard that I can think of that has garnered such a reaction by our pollies. And the general population don't give a shit anyway - they are going about their daily lives, business as usual, with social distancing the furthest thing on most peoples minds.
I'd say Trump has a point.

And here are the numbers to back it up.

I don't think it was in the right dose.. In US, you can get anything anywhere...just need to know how much you can take... and most of them have no clue...only TRUMP knows!

If your okay with what's happened in Italy and think the hospitals can cope with so many people dying that they are now storing them on ice rinks? Then yes Trump has a point get Americans back to work asap.

    Cheers
    Tom.

Check your numbers - USA hospitals are fast becoming overwhelmed now, and with the current projection Australia's hospitals have no hope anyway.
