Daylight Saving Time begins at 2am on the first Sunday in October, when clocks are put forward one hour. (YAY :) )

Daylight saving is not observed in Queensland, the Northern Territory or Western Australia.

To make sure you have the correct time on the forum, you need to go to your profile and tick the daylight savings tab:

OK so the logic is to have more daylight after work. Using this logic, wouldn't it make more sense to have it in winter when there is the least amount of daylight?

The earth is tilted on it's axis and therefore we have varying periods of light and dark throughout the year. Get over it.

    I like QLD

Spot on. Always thought it would be better if DST applied to the winter months only

Old Codger is correct and not only about the curtains fading.
We live in the driest continent on earth and should be looking at conserving water.

Another hour of sunlight will mean that the daily water evaporation rate will be higher. The ground will quickly end up drier and our dam levels will drop.
Great way to start the next drought.
I grew up in the bush so don't get me started on the poor cows.

My take is that in modern society people are under a lot of stress already and lack of proper sleep is something of an epidemic. Lack of sleep has severe long term health consequences including obesity and diabetes related issues.

To throw out everyone's sleep patterns twice a year is an act of bastardry.

Please tell me you dont seriously think moving the hands of a clock generates an extra hour of sunlight.

Well seem to me that everyone gets an extra hour of sunlight by moving the clocks forward.
Stands to reason that by fiddling with time all sorts of funny things happen

I wonder if by cancelling DST global warming might be reversed?????
