I came across this curiousity today.Purporting to be a 1995 2 oz kook..Trouble is it shows the 1996 kook design. Any kookaburra "savvies" out there care to hazard a guess as to it's provenance? Has it been photoshopped?
Often the bullion coins contained the previous years proof design. This happens in the nuggets gold coins too.
Thanks ever so much ,CK! Do you think it would have any extra rarity value? This particular one is damaged and being touted as Bullion only
It is a proof issue 1995, looks like some damage to the field either through a coating or a film that it may have been exposed to. It is not a year mistake to the best of my knowledge.
Its delamination of the plastic material on these coins. See my cleaning thread for an example. The gunk comes off with acetone to reveal beautiful silver.
My Lobster Fishing mate gave me five rolls of season old rope, beautiful lovely synthetic rope, strong, enough to hold two, maybe three men
