Has it ever been seriously suggested that production costs for minting coins and printing notes could be offset by allowing a corporate sponsor to put their logo on the currency?

I think the cost of printing notes can be offset by printing more money

Hong Kong goes beyond even that suggestion; it allows private banks to print circulating Hong Kong Dollar banknotes, as long as they put up adequate US Dollar as collateral with the Monetary Authority. The Hong Kong Dollar is pegged to the US Dollar.

Same currency, same denomination, three/four* different designs circulating at the same time.

Who would regulate it? It could easily get out of control.

    Paper vs Plastic

Plastic are recyclable, can be wash after single use

That's why people laundries their papers.

It's not like the notes are going to lose credibility
I think they should be forced to display the banks that own shares in the RBA

Taxi companies in the UK have been asked to stop doing this and there have been far right political groups in the UK doing something similar.
