    Looks a bit big to be copper/red spot, maybe a dye or paint?

    Yeah I'm not sure - certainly not like other copper spots I've seen, maybe someone tried to clean it in the past 144 years

    I'm tempted to wash it, hopefully the gold doesn't wash away and just leave the red :confused:

    Soak it in cloudy ammonia for 30 mins then very gently rub it bicarb soda
