For those that have ordered & received these before.

Just wanting to know what condition were they in when they arrived.
Mine arrived somewhat "used" with dents AND scratches on the front. I can understand abrasions along edges when they are stacked, but dents & scratches on the front???

I called the SS sponsor and was told "that's how we got them from our supplier"... (Not too happy, and they were my first Scottsdale purchase!)

Will I have issues on-selling or selling back to dealers?

Silver is Silver, i would pay whatever the condition, my bars are for Quantity not Quality

Coins are a different matter, but then if they are bullion coins, not really worried either.

Fair comment I agree, but I bought these bars to be part of my small 'eye-candy' collection :)

I know if I were to on-sell then it'll be as a 'lump of metal', which kinda sucks with the premiums that Scottsdale silver has.

You should be able to sell it for the same premium over spot you bought it for.

Will depend on the buyer I guess. Will need to tell them about the dents and scratches.

    "selling back to dealers"

    - probably only get spot whatever condition, so minimal disadvantage there. Selling privately (e.g here or spotmex) you usually get a premium on spot for whatever, and I for one would pay you more for a machined stacker with scratches and dings than a poured blob, aka Ainslie bars that I'm stuck with.
Don't worry about it, prices will go up anyway, you've got the ozs, and benefit from the experience

It is ok to hope that slightly used /worn/damaged bars are just as "maketable" as the pristine /never been handled/still in shrink wrap type.

My experience with the former is buyers can use the condition as leverage in a deal.It has happened to me.Silver is still silver, in the final analysis ,but some comes cheaper than others.

    Sad ..but true. :)

That's good to know. Will wait for the imminent 'to the moon' phase and offload.
I'm putting it down as a lesson learnt. Will ask for pics next time...

Just imagine you are at one of the SilverStacker f2f meets and you see someone who has the same bar but unscratched.

How many $ would you add to your scratched bar and swap it for an unscratched bar?

why should you accept them just cause they are from a forum dealer they should have informed you of the condition

Don't really want to name & shame (being a newbie & all), but will give them a chance to come good...

Yeah, all the pics on the web I've seen are scratch/dent free. Hence, why I bought them..
Will a supplier ship dented/scratched ones? Will a dealer accept them as well?

Scottsdale command a premium due to their finish and extra detail. This is a trait rare in kilo bars....
If their finish and extra detail is not up to standard.... it should not command an extra premium.

    imho.
