Good Morning Ok here is something to test out our collective knowledge of Pandas. Over the past few months I have been lucky enough to get my hands on some 1995 1 oz silver pandas. There are two varities that I have got my paws on. The small twig and the large twig. The answer I seek is the small twig come in two varaties that I am aware of. Small twig /small date and small twig /micro date. Can anyone tell me what type the coin is in the pic? Thought I'd post a pic of the large twig
The two coins that you have posted can be found in the Krause catalogs they are Y # 485.1 Large Twig Y # 485.2 Small Twig No mintage figures available - but Kruase prices both of them at $32.50 ( bear in mind that the book was printed in 2008 - and spot for silver was $13.50-$15.00 per oz - and it prices the Aussie Crowns ( 1937 ) at $12.50 and its a catalog where pricing is sometimes questioned. But at least according to above, it prices If crown is $12.50 ( and now it is $40 AUD ) and the Panda is $32.50 = so now it should be around 2.6 times more worth than the Aussie Crown - so around $104 ps. the Crowns and Pandas are only very loosely correlated -
You would assume that would be the case, but it is not. There are two varities of the small twig, they are smalldate and microdate and for the life of me I can't work it out
It is the Small twig /small date. The microdate is clearly inside of the extension of the temple steps
Not only does he know his Panda Facts, but he also does something about it and helps the entire forum by posting the photo with the arrow. * Collective Knowledge *
Another point to take note: if you are buying NGC graded coins, DO NOT buy by the label. So far to my knowledge, there isn't any labelled as 'Micro Date'. Hence the pic posted by projack is a very good reference for buyers before they lunge in for a 1995 Small Twig Small Date label for more than US$700. http://cgi.ebay.com/CHINA-Silver-Pa...462?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5deb0956
