Not sure if its been posted here before.

It goes for 1hr 20min if you have the time.

Michael Ruppert gives a pretty frank and at times emotional interview on what he believes is the coming collapse.
Alot of what he says makes sense.

    Cheers markcoinoz :)

Thanks for posting MC, had not seen that movie before and I enjoyed every minute even though I am aware of most of the issues.
Mike showed alot of emotion and is obviously very passionate about saving as many people as possible, well worth the time to watch it.

^ peak oil, pending financial collapse, sheeple, 100th monkey, buy book for his rent

Facetiousness aside, it's a good video and you should watch it. I liked it a lot, even though it covered a lot of territory that I was already exposed to by Chris Martenson (h/t hiho).

Chris Martenson covers peak oil well along with how expenentional curves work, amazingly there are a few more commodities that have reached their peak, gold, silver and copper are to name a few :/

This is well worth the watch for those who have not seen it.

He has costs to meet in life, like anyone.

I watched the lot and a large amount of the information struck a deep chord with me, I have a lot in common with this guy ideologically speaking.

His discussion takes me back to the fundamentals on why we're in a place like SS to begin with - the fundamentals.

Understanding why we're here and where we are headed is a discussion in reality and acknowledging the fact we're making the same mistakes all over again.

His unwillingness to adopt the standards of the establishment & his issuance of warning about adopting the status quo is something I respect and advocate around here.

His insistence to abandon debt, get out of paper assets, buy gold and learn how to THINK for yourself are things I've strongly advocated (and been admonished for by some) around here for a long time.

Plus his ability to 'connect the dots' and appreciate that it's ALL tied together, but very few seemingly can appreciate the fact.

It's a shame that people who speak the most sense & refuse to capitulate (the idealists) are the ones most often shunted aside in the race to the top of the debt pile.

We live in a period of time where the entire damn thing is one big ponzi scheme and how those who point out the obvious are the first to be castrated by those who are profiteering from it the most.

Look around you and see that what he's talking about is everywhere.

    Including here.

He is right. We are witnessing the collapse, whether people want to admit it or not.

I'm in the middle of watching something else but whenever I hear the words 'Peak Oil' I like to introduce some reality:

"Are we running out of resources"

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/AcWkN4ngR2Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    Or: http://youtu.be/AcWkN4ngR2Y

I'll be watching the video of this thread eventually, don't worry.

    EDIT

Using the Embed function of Youtube doesn't seem to work for me here on SS, can anyone PM me what I'm doing wrong? Don't want to derail this thread.

When you want to embed, just put the basic Youtube file link in your post

    ie AcWkN4ngR2Y

Then when you highlight that, select the YOUTUBE button at the top

It'll change to {youtube}http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcWkN4ngR2Y{/youtube} (except with squared brackets)

Then when you post, it'll look like this :

I think Chris Martenson would eat him for breakfast (not all of him, maybe in two sittings)

I had that feeling too :) my dad talks a lot like this. This guy is right but I feel it's happening faster than can be revolutionised and like CM shows it's getting too costly/unproductive.

    ^ exactly.

In the video above his argument essentially boils down to "it didn't happen before so it won't happen now", and "it's okay we'll substitute like we always have".

They are a valid commentary on history, but they are not necessarily a valid prediction of the future.

Also i think he drops the ball with the 'price mechanism of oil' part - the idea that demand for oil is tempered by price. It sure is! And exponentially growing economies have some pretty strong demand for oil, but they cannot handle exponentially increasing prices!

So we have two strong competing forces battling it out, probably destined for a showdown at some point. So far the demand side has been winning (the US is well and truly on the demand side of that argument, even going to war to prevent price hikes), although the price increase side won a few skirmishes over the last few decades.

    Ultimately no-one wins though.

    ^^ Some people will win.

I think Chris Martenson may have gotten some of his information from Michael Rupert or maybe it was other way around, or maybe they both got their information from similar sources (maybe just observation). I think those two movies compliment each other and have different ways of adapting to the possible new paradyme.

Hard hitting and an enjoyable watch. But what's with the ending... leaves the viewer with a depressed pathetic old man about to get kicked out of his home because he's not paying rent. Inspiration and motivation = nil.
