    Anyone tried it?

Some banks have tellers that dispense change. I recently cashed $500 in $2 coins and got 7 different, from poppies to remembrance days, am trying it for $1 coins later on. Not a bad return for a couple of minutes work

I think they call it Noodling :)

Yes, mostly 50 cents to get the commemoratives but I haven't done it for a while. If you get $200 in 50 cent coins they give you a nice cloth bag, or at least they used to at the ANZ.

yeah i think only $2 coins are worth doing. Sometimes you get lucky and get a whole roll or security bag and sell it for triple face value or more

I grabbed $50 worth of ten cent coins the other day and came away with a 2011 and a 1991, whether or not that's worth it depends on how bored you are and how hungry you are I guess... :)
