i'm away from home working at the moment and am staying in a motel. I needed $3 for the washing machines at the motel. Neither the motel's restaurant or reception could give me change from my $50 note! How can you run a business like that? Does this mean if i wanted to purchase something to the value of say, $2 they would tell me, "sorry we can't give you change for that so we can't sell it to you". Pain in the a$$

    Try a $100 note instead.

They could but they just didn't want to. Pre-empt their objections and reasons for not giving change for large notes next time and work that into your request. It's something I learned from a sales book and has worked incredibly well for things like that. If you address their objections immediately, they rarely say no!

Is the motel in http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ or other accomodation user review site?
Tell them you'll post a crummy review but won't if they treat you like a prince the rest of your stay.

    I'm serious, try a $100 note. I'd give $99.95 in change for a hunjy. :D
