    I love a sunburnt country
    A land of sweeping plains
    Of rugged mountain ranges
    Of drought and flooding rains
    I love her jeweled sea
    Her beauty her terror
T'is the wide brown land for me

I liken the carbon tax that the faries at the bottom of the garden have imposed to being an adolescent mongrel having a wet dream.

At the moment they are experiencing a warm rush but in the morning when the votes come in like the naughty pup; they are well and truely going to have their noses rubbed in it and put outside indefinetly

The electorate will not forget for a long time after this mess is cleaned up

    Kind Regards

Anthony Albanese came off as a complete liar this morning when he appeared on the Andrew Bolt Report. Andrew gave him clear direct questions and he didn't answer any of them, his favourite answer was "that is the wrong question". He makes Gillard seem like an honest person and that's saying something.

"The IIPC calculated that the impact of the Australian Carbon tax will have an effect of .004 percent of 1 degree on global temperature. Is the sacrifice of the Australian taxpayer worth this?" He couldn't answer this. He just deflected the question over and over. He is a man who can see the end of his career and his party getting very close.

Thank God a political party has the guts to stand up to the polluters and try to get them to reduce their dangerous wastes .Even though the rich and powerful spend millions on advertising trying to prevent this. And the feeble minded can't see through this irresponsible and antisocial strategy.

    ...
Just thought you'd like another point of view on this matter.

In NSW we have the EPA to do that. We don't need the Fed's taxing every citizen with the excuse that they are trying to do the same.

Having been involved in heavy industry my whole working life, I'd like to present another point of veiw on this matter. This is but just one industry example.

Below are two pictures of steelmaking sites:

One is Port Kembla Steelworks near Wollongong NSW.
One is Anshan Steel Works-Liaoning Province, China.

Given China outputs Australia's total annual steel production every 3 days, what difference do you think a carbon tax is going to make?

So if I'm only shooting three people a day, when other people are shooting a hundred, then I shouldn't be stopped?

All of the clowns like Greg Combet who are appearing today on TV and acting all smug saying "See, the carbon tax has arrived and the world is the same today, nothing has happened, you worried for nothing, a cup of coffee is the same price as yesterday" are idiots or liars.

In the past month I had received letters from 5 suppliers and services notifying me that they will increase prices this week due to the carbon tax. Our local council, two of our commercial waste collectors, our power provider and one of our materials suppliers. As councils will all be putting up their rates landlords will put up rents. Anyone who believes that Labor's piddling compensation will cover their increased costs must have an IQ in the 60's or lower.

And we have the fascinating display of insanity this week where in order to prevent two of the "biggest polluters" from collapse from the carbon tax Labor has bailed them out with taxpayer money solely in order to prevent loss of Union jobs on a large scale. The Carbon Tax is designed to wipe out industries like the Aluminium industry to stop the "pollution", yet Labor has to bail them out in order to avoid upsetting trade Unions. you couldn't make this stuff up.

Anyone who believes that CO2 is a pollutant has to be.... Well, I won't say it in polite company.

This analogy is rubbish, but I'l play anyway.

If this were true, you'd be stopped shooting 3 people a day at cost of $8billion per bullet (paid by the community), and the bullets then handed to the other guy so he could shoot 103 people a day instead.
A net result of zero at great cost to the economy.

So the majority of scientists ,who believe CO2 is contributing to global warming are ......,

I know exactly how you feel.
But I suppose you can just apologize to your children if you turn out to be wrong.
They are the ones who will have to bare the brunt of it.
In the mean time you might save a few dollars.

The vast waste of resources and pollution can not go on if they are to have a
viable future.Things are going to get worse if the greed ,ignorance and short sighted selfishness doesn't stop.
There will be nothing left worthwhile for the young.

People will only stop if continuing is going to cost them money .

Had a few reports on this thread, haven't got time to stop and clean up but in the meantime, please maintain the decorum of the forum regardless of your political views.

    Debate, don't insult.

This whole line of argument for the carbon tax is irrelevant unless you believe CO2 doesn't cross borders and just stays where it is produced..... and anyone who believes that.... Well, I won't say it in polite company.

Abbot looked downwards when he said today there "will be no carbon tax under a Liberal govt." - indicates lack of confidence in the statement. I expect it to stay so better get used to it and proceed as if it will stay.

One benefit is that it has acted as a driver for large energy users to investigate ways to cut usage. What the unseen externalities of the tax that go to the opposite effect of its intent one can only imagine. One might be more production to China which pollutes more per unit output.
