    From the photograph it looks like base metal but don't throw it away without further research.
    Pretty sure it's not platinum though.

    i was at a friend's place and they pulled the old 'oh we've got a box of old coins somewhere, you can take a look through them' trick and i pulled out maybe an ounce and a half asw of miscellaneous coins including one of these. That photo looks grimy but i soaked it in cloudy overnight and it comes up looking like it 'could' be sterling. The fact that there is no info anywhere and nobody has heard of em makes me doubt it though. Need an acid kit..
