I am looking for a source book

Ideally it would be an in person transaction

for example something that Id's the makers stamp

I am a neophyte at the silverware buying thing but it looks interesting

I can scratch the shopping itch and acquire more silver at the same time

    feedback appreciated

    thanks

    Sounds like you mean hallmarking...

I've seen antique dealers with a pocketsize booklet of all hallmarks

Plenty of books in libraries on the topic

There's at least one forum too

There is a link to flatware hallmarking in the useful websies sticky in the precious metals subsection of this site

I have seen the book that you are after in my local library in Brisbane ( Browns Plains branch :) )
which has a photo and description of all major 'hallmarks' used in silverware.

    so its out there...

    if this helps
