When it was found diamonds were not scarce, diamond companies recruited PR guys to come up with a campaign to sell diamonds. The PR guys created the idea that a man must buy a diamond ring, and spend lots of money on it, for his fiancee, or the man doesn't love her. There is a study showing an inverse relationship between the amount of money spent on an engagement ring, and the length of the relationship.

In case anyone is interested to know what happened, I found the perfect ring, or at least i thought so and I became worried in the days leading up to the proposal. I was very pleased when she said it was perfect and loved the ring and now is very proud to say to her friends that i picked it out myself.... Thank you to everyone, especially the member of SS who wrote me personally and schooled me on diamonds to the point that when i walked into regular jewelry shops i found i knew more about diamonds than some of the sales staff. Ended up getting a very good deal on a quality diamond, thank you very much kind sir!

On to a very happy future

    Best wishes everyone!
