eBay policy actually guarantees authenticity… so does PayPal… bit of a process but refund always available… still wouldn’t recommend buying PM from there but it is piece of mind…
What eBay policy guarantees and what it delivers are two totally different things. The problem is that most eBay buyers are blissfully unaware that some if not all of those "gold " items that they have amassed over the years could be fake. It is not until years later when the eBay purchaser tries to sell some of their investment "gold" that the deception is uncovered and by then it is usually too late to do anything about it.
I got rorted recently, thankfully Ebay refunded my money. It was nothing to do with gold or silver. The item I bought seemed legit so I purchased it. After I looked at the seller's profile, it appeared that the individual did not send any item over $200-$300 but only $10-$15 items. The scam works like this. You "sell" someone a pair of headphones, you then send an email saying the item has been sent. Somehow on Ebay it appears that they sent the item. The item never turns up. You ask for a refund, they say there is a problem and that due to the Chinese Flu the item hasn't turned up yet. The tracking number on the postage item looks legit and you get an email saying the item was delivered. The seller says they sent the item and states that Ebay will refund you. Repeat this process. I think they generate a fake parcel to send and send it to themselves, not quite sure how it all works. Each time they do this they make $200-$300 and repeat this knowing that Ebay will cover your item.
