Howdy-doo-dee Stackers As the title says, Brisbane Coin Fair The next show will be held on September 18th 2011 at The West End Club, South Brisbane. Open to the public from 9.00am to 3.00pm. FREE show bag upon entry. So who is coming??? I am in.
I have been to them all so far, the show bag usually has an old copy of the Coin and banknote magazine in it and when I get home to go through it in more detail I usually find a money off voucher for a couple of the stalls I bought from. The entrance fee is cheap there are usually a few good dealers there and parking on the streets isn't an issue. The "show coin" has been stopped as far as I know. http://brisbanecoinfairs.com/ I will probably go along just to go through the scratch trays looking for a bargain, I find that for banknotes, coins and supplies I can usually get cheaper online. I will probably head on down to distribute flyers for the coin club though. Might see you there.
Actually if you lookin the top photo on this page http://brisbanecoinfairs.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=35 , the lady on the far left is my wife. She looks interested but in fact she managed to walk around the whole show in about 2 minutes flat before telling me she was off to get a coffee and telling me "I am sure you won't be long."
Missed that coin fair ,Jis. Did you keep your good lady waiting? I won't miss this one,probably,definitely ,maybe Going to get some of the bargains I keep hearing about from the dealers selling under spot ..
Actually that photo was taken at the old location in the greek club, you couldn't move in there let alone sit down or look at an albums, if you stood in one spot and rotated you could prettymuch do each dealer. The new venue is much larger, almost feels a bit empty! If I remember rightly the only thing that took my fancy was a Zimbawean 100 000 000 etc note but they wanted $20 and you could get them on eBay for $5. Good place to pick up pages for albums though.
So... anyone keen to give me a rundown on todays events? Any bargains to be had? Was busy playing music earlier so couldn't play out... not even the other little one. Incidentally... did colonial have a stall today? I nearly knocked Hugh and the other chap over outside the shop earlier on...
Colonial were there..bought my only purchase from them. See the "Today I bought thread" for one of them. Had to leave early due to luncheon engagement..you have to eat ,right?
I also had fun, but the biggest bargain of the day had to be the showbag - a backissue of the Coins and Banknotes magazine and a plastic pen !! $2 only
